Easy decision for me, I would sell those two SS and get the WG Sub and never look back.

I'm a much bigger fan of dive watches than chronographs or GMTs, and I think the white gold Sub is way cooler than any Daytona or the BLNR. I say go for it. You can never have too many dive watches!

Keep in mind that with this deal you'd getting a great return on the SS Daytona, which retails for about $13K with tax. You'd be cashing in the market-value difference to get a beautiful full white gold Submariner, which common sense says will most likely never drop below retail price on the secondary market, not in the Rolex frenzy nowadays.

This is just not the case. When you see and feel the two watches side-by-side they are very, very different, especially in weight and luster. Sure, across the room somone might not notice a big difference on your wrist except for that flash of blue. But the 126619LB is really a watch for the owner, not to show off, and that's part of what makes it so special.
I purchased one from an AD with zero hassles. Hence my comment.

IMO, keep the Daytona if you must, (I don't get the allure of modern Daytonas) but the LV, GMT, and a WG Sub would be redundant to me.

Forgetting the GMT function which you probably don't use anyway, it's a not-uncommon chunky, blue bezel, white metal sport Rolex.

As blue bezel, chunky, white metal sport Rolexes go, simply nothing compares to a WG Sub. Far less common. As versatile, if not more so, than the GMT. And it kicks an LV to the curb for cool factor. I mean a white gold dive watch is the embodiment of stealth wealth!

And if in any given situation, you'd have gravitated towards wearing the LV, the WG would be a seamless substitute. In terms of color alone, blue and green are basically swappable.

I would do it. Just remember that it weights significantly more heavy. And wg is a softer metal…

Well not the black ceramic Daytona at least.

If you bought that retail, you must have a pretty good relationship with your AD - if he found out you sold it would he offer you any more hot pieces in the future?

Also, getting the chance to replace the black Daytona at retail if you regretted selling it later would be near on impossible I’d imagine.

Tough decision tbf

Yep. Didn't have a newer one from that angle on my phone.

I would do that trade all day long. I agree with you the Daytona does wear a bit too small, and that WG sub is beautiful

I was in the same boat as the OP and just picked up a 126619LB. Again, it's a stunning timepiece with heft, a beautiful luster (very different to SS) and a bezel that pops! I owned the previous WG Sub but tired of that pastel blue dial and sold it. The 126619LB with the new case design is exquisite, and I prefer the contrast of the blue bezel with the black of the dial. Design-wise, it's superior, IMHO.

I think they're a relatively good deal right now on the secondary market, considering the craziness of the pricing of every sports Rolex. However, you've got to try it on and love it, of course. Completely subjective. Good luck with your decision.

Great watches

Those are 2 watches I wouldn't touch for one, I'll rather save up.

To me, that watch isn't worth it; it's just not my cup of tea. I'd trade two (maybe three) for the 116619 in a heart beat though. I had that watch and loved it.

No logical person would trade a blnr and daytona to get a gold sub that looks similar to the blnr with a bit more blue.

No logical person would pay Rolex precious metal prices.

Guess who just traded a new ed white speedmaster and a blnr for the YM 42?

This guy!

I would sell those two to get the new WG. Even if you kept the other two they would not get wrist time once you get a WG sub. You will lose interest in the others.

Note: Currently there are 600+ ceramic daytonas for sale on C24, there are only 50 -116619LB's & 89 126619LB. The WG sub is on a different level in the watch game.

I'd do that trade all day everyday.

TheSS Daytona aint worth anywhere near its asking price so I'd cash that in immediately. Yes thats coming from a previous owner. Actually I've owned 4 SS Daytona's and sold them all.

Once you go gold and feel that heft there is just nothing like it.

Been to view it today, it’s amazing. Got to decide tomorrrow, it’s so bloody heavy. The only slight curveball was that he had a yachtmaster 42 INSTOCK, tried that and really liked it, even though it’s a watch I have never liked and criticised in the past. If I took that I could put quite a lot of cash back in the pocket.

It’s not as good as the blue sub, part of me worries that I’ll get my arm chopped off!
