Certainly to each his own. I like the fat bracelet because it offers a different alternative to virtually every other integrated bracelet, except perhaps for the 222, which is rather wide.

I would hate to see the IWC make something that looks indistinct from a [fill in the name] integrated watch at a distance. Be bold I say.

I can't imagine an. un-tapered bracelet if the watch is going to be 40mm. Those vintage ones were more like 36, and if that bracelet already looked too wide...

Yeah I think that the bracelet being that wide on a 40mm watch with no taper would mean like the bracelet being almost 24mm all around your wrist. It’s one of the reasons why I won’t consider an Octo Finissimo, as that bracelet is huge. It almost feels like wearing a bracelet instead of a watch. It’s just not my taste.

Thanks for the pics! First impression watch bracelet and proportions look nice.

Not sure why the crown guard was needed and is so big and more importantly the dial feels like a miss, I don't love the dial texture/style.

The black one is not bad at all. I didn't need the crown guards though. They look toolish and very chunky, like 13+mm thick similar to the 1832. Curious as to the actual dimensions.

Not sure about 12k but I am not up to speed on IWC pricing these days. At the same time, and having seen the new one, I'd still rather pay up for an 1832 if only it fit me a little better.

I am very conflicted about this design. I like the chamfers, the hands and markers, the bezel, the bracelet. But I don’t like the crown guards, the screws and the dial. Maybe some live videos will change my opinion, but it’s definitely not love at first sight.

Also the black dial has brushed center links, the green has polished center links and the white seems fully blasted titanium.

The design does not look bad... But it does look very average...

Seems very similar to the watch they discontinued a few years ago except that they've added some bolt-on looking crown guards; I don't see any other unique design language compared to other integrated watches on the market?

I will remain open minded, but at first glance I feel like they mailed it in while hoping that the recent success of the integrated bracelet market in general would do the heavy lifting. I'm disappointed. But it does make me appreciate so much more the other integrated watch entries like the 222, Laurent Ferrier Sport, Czapek, and even some of the older designs like the GP who bring a unique and interesting perspective.

I like it. Will wait to see in the metal on Weds before I decide, but a nice addition to their line-up and a good price point when compared to the competition and considering it’s heritage.

I don't know. The nautilus in a vacuum is a pretty ugly watch. People here know what it is but I can remember it sitting in Patek area cases unloved.

Flawless execution and construction of course. But the lines look like a TV wearing headphones.

I like both the Nautilus and Royal Oak, for different reasons and my preferences have shifted over time. The Ingenieur though… it has always been just a watch with nothing of any visual interest at all. All the aesthetics are just phoned in, and with the new one they managed to make the rivet holes not just boring, but ugly.

That’s what made it sort of cool. Sadly, it’s not even an ugly duckling anymore. It’s just… so average. Not sure why I expected any different from IWC? They seem pretty content with playing follow the (many) leaders.

The pricing (again, assuming if correct) is quite ambitious for what I expect will be mechanically an identical watch to the Mark XX (5-day PR movement, 100M WR, soft iron cage, Easy-X strap change system, etc). Basically double.

OTOH, it's basically one of the Genta trinity with the Nautilus and RO, and this kind of history seems to matter a lot more to people now in the age of social media driven hype than it did during the Genta-inspired Ingenieur's last run. So I guess IWC will lean hard on that history.

I wouldn't be surprised if they limit production and reserve allocations mostly to their boutiques to control supply and pricing. IWC could be seeing this as an opportunity to move the entire brand more upscale in pricing, although I think they missed the boat by about 2-3 years.
