Hi Robert, praying the watch is back on your wrist by end of day. Please keep us posted. I once lost a very special ring while playing in the woods but with the help of my family and several hours of searching we were able to find it!

Well we did a very thorough search today for a good 8 hours and we did not find the watch unfortunately. I will be looking again tomorrow with the wife and my buddy with metal detector once again.
I really appreciate everyone on here who stopped in to wish me luck in finding it,also offering to help me search and send me a metal detector. You are all very nice people and I’m very glad to have joined this forum. Have a great night everyone. |

Just thinking it over again, the most likely place where the watch came off was in the driveways that were shovelled. That’s where the most force in the watch would have occurred causing it to drop off.
Depending on how the driveways are situated, they may not be exposed to many passers by, so when the snow melts the watch should remain safe. You might want to focus first on the snowboarding trails and surrounds as they are public and more likely to attract a neer-do-well who won’t turn the watch in. Once the search here is exhausted, try the driveways again. Look particularly around where you parked the car when you headed off for snowboarding. With the metal detectors you might want to experiment with the sensitivity settings. The watch is a big chunk of metal, so you can turn it down a bit otherwise every bottle cap, nail, ring pull etc will trigger a false positive. Try burying another watch under a few feet of snow and see what setting you can take it to so as to eliminate water time digging up rubbish. With the driveways, the sno piles may need to be carefully deconstructed. Carefull with that shovel! Being methodical with the search is important. Have a long length of date rope / cord with stakes on the end. Search along that line then move it a meter to the side to continue. Best if you have a system where others with shovels can follow behind to dig up where it pings. Use rocks or a tent peg to mark spots. This way you can cover a lot more territory. Good luck! |

On the ringfinders website there may be a few in the area who can be asked to help. Give each one a specific area to search, then concentrate your team on another area. Their charge for fuel and a modest reward is well worth it. Last edited by ArtieFufkinPolymer; 31 January 2022 at 09:49 AM.. Reason: Spelling |

Yes, we still have a lot of good people around willing to help another person out. That's great and a very nice gesture.

Silly question but have you checked your car for it? If it’s going to fall off anywhere I could see it happening when you grabbed the seatbelt to put it on or something like that. Might be worth checking under and between the seats. Hoping to see some good news regarding your watch soon. Fingers crossed for you.

Be sure to check each car you were in, it could have also found it’s way out and down into the crevasses. Under the seat, sides on the consoles. Think out of the box. Places you’d least expect. Never know!!
