Not the same thing. Not even close. These are customized orders for clients. It’s not a collaboration with another watch brand.

I can’t believe we are actually discussing about custom made Rolex made specifically for Royalty and Government departments against a $260 Plastic watch that unleashed a bunch of youngsters on the streets which caused chaos until police intervention was needed…. But yeah keep telling yourself that they are the same.

You lost me at “Imagine standing in line at Burger King.”

But that aside, if I was wearing my Speedy Pro and met a 16 year old who was wearing a MoonSwatch I’d think it was pretty cool. When I was 16 I was wearing a Swatch, too. And now I’m the owner of multiple Omegas, Rolexes, IWC, etc.

What matters is the passion for watches, not the amount paid for them. For some people, anyway.

Lot to unpack there....

But yeah, please continue your chain of thought... he does and then what ?
I see people worth a 50th of mine and watches 50 times the price of mine.
Yet somehow I manage to summon up the strength to continue my day. Almost as though nothing had happened......

Moon Swatch - Trust it relates to Rolex

Today we witnessed a microcosm of the speculative watch world. A mass produced watch (spoiler Rolex qualifies as such) created a huge advertising surge that cleared the market, and sent the very same watches to the secondary market at 10x retail.

The retail buyers did not get the opportunity to buy today (at least in Vancouver). There was a large line outside. When the mall opened the Swatch boutique was already lined up, with presumably mall employees, who purchased the watches with the intention of resale. This is obvious by the immediate influx of local ads selling, plastic watches. Sadly they are trading above a true Omega speedmaster.

It will be interesting to watch how this market plays out. I’m confident it will provide a crystal ball into the future of Rolex grey markets.

There are at minimum equal amounts of non watch people who think spending $10k on watch is a waste of money and a sign of insecurity as there are people who appreciate them. The appreciation comes from the fine finishing and the mechanical qualities, not the brand and resell value.

But since we know so much of it is about “flexing” you are worried that the same community who pays 10x for a different stripe on an air Jordan is not going to perceive how expensive a steel mechanical moonwatch is with it’s obvious finer qualities?
Hahhaha. Right in so many levels!

I think the collab downgrades Omega's image and upgrades Swatch's, but that's just me. If it happens with Rolex, I would feel the brand is dirtying its image tbh

Time and tide released a video showing the queue outside the Swatch boutique in Geneva, but what caught my attention was their claim that this genius move by the Swatch group is saving the Swiss watch industry again. They also kept comparing these $260 watches to RM watches in terms of lightness which I found really absurd.

People are already flipping the $260 swatch omegas for 1000 online. SMH. Lot of work for a couple of bucks. I was thinking of getting my son one of them, but will wait until I can order online through swatch.

A custom white or rose gold president bracelet would be classy.

It is a collaboration just in the same. Some were saying Rolex would never do collaborations and that is false.

Rolex has collaborated in the past to customize their watches. I doubt they would do it now but they have.

If Rolex did it, the same people on this forum screaming about Omega would be lining up to get the Rolex collab.
