You have to give it to the BLNR. It has come along way since just being the “alternative” to the Pepsi. 15% and 3rd place so far is pretty impressive considering the competition. I think people are really discovering its charm and it is becoming more and more popular. That being said, nothing touches the white Daytona and Pepsi in a popularity contest, that’s for sure!

I’m team BLRO but LV is a close second to me.

Surpised how low the 126610LV polled.

No question, the crowd favorites are the Panda and the Pepsi .

The low count for the Black Daytona is ridiculous.
I guess because most vote on pictures and haven't seen it in the metal .

Bump - white Daytona and Pepsi have a healthy lead. BLNR has a comfortable 3rd place position. There is time for the rest’

Actually the plain black sub soundly beats it and is in 3rd place. The split of the date vs no date is what makes it look behind. But that's just semantics. The black sub overall is still more favored according to the poll.

Hype aside, the BLRO is arguably one of the best watches rolex ever made imho

How does the white dial get 3x the votes of White Dial Daytona?

I wonder how they would fare against each other if they were the only two in the poll.

PS I know the poll had lots of options so don't need to mansplain that

This “poll” is entertaining but holds no statistical validity.

I’m surprised the Sub LV didn't get more votes Vs the LN. 🤔

I think as a one watch collection many would argue there is much more versatility with the LN.

My guess is that obtaining a Daytona probably would never be you first buy. If you have to make several purchases to get a Daytona most likely you'll have at least 3 black dials already GMT, Sub, Explorer etc... You'd want some variety and prefer to choose the white dial. The official Paul Newman dial was also white.

These polls always shift with the tides of the year and popularity. I do remember that on similar polls from the past, the white SS Daytona was also at the top of the list. The reality is any model Rolex could easily be your “one and done.” It’s really more about your own personal style that makes one call to you more. My gut says a Sub and a Daytona would properly be the most popular pair of Rolex watches if most had to pick a two watch collection.

I have the black sub. It is not in third place. Great example, I have the 124060 and selected the BLNR. But I would pick the 124060 second and the Daytona black sub third. All before the black sub date. By your logic, you can also say the GMTs together are beating all the others.

I thought so too, but the GMT combo is kicking all the others butts!

The sub date and sub no date are pretty much the same watch but the date window removed. The GMT LN, Pepsi, and Batman are 3 different watches.

The Sub is in 3rd place. People overall prefer the black Sub before the batman, this is a fact. What comes next is their preference of date or not.

And yes I also agree with your final statement. The GMT as a whole is Rolex's most preferred watch as a whole according to the poll thanks to the Pepsi's insane pull. But the Sub is still preferable to the Batman by most. Both are true.

Your statement that the sub is still preferable to the Batman by most, and should automatically be viewed together in third place, assumes that everyone that voted sub, would automatically vote for sub date over all others on this list, and everyone that voted black sub date, would automatically vote for the sub over all others on this list. Just for me as example, before I had the BLNR, I would have had the 124060 as number one, but not the black sub date as equal or number 2. I am just one example.

You suggest it is a fact people prefer the black sub over the Batman. I can tell you this statement is incorrect as I am a person and do not prefer the black sub or sub date over the Batman. If I was to have only one watch for the rest of my life, I would primarily want an all black watch with a pop of blue color. I also specially like the jubilee because for me it is more comfortable than the oyster and doesn’t have the PCLs which shows less scratches.

There are similarities and differences within the GMT and Sub family. The BLNR and BLRO are different by color, but they both have date windows. My 124060 without the date has a different visual vibe vs the black sub date. There are some that have to have a date and some that don’t like the cyclops. That alone makes the sub and sub date uniquely individual watches with historical debate.

This poll reflects the BLNR is preferable to either the sub and sub date individually. This is supported outside of this poll as example of the long wait for the BLNR vs either black subs at ADs. I was able to get my friend a black sub date in 4 days at my AD. The BLNR also demands a higher aftermarket price vs either black subs. This includes both the jubilee and oyster.

Even by your logic of lumping the black sub and sub date together, the BLNR is still at 15 percent. This alone is pretty impressive that one watch has that much in a poll with other historically popular and iconic watches such as the subs. In my opinion, outside this poll, I do feel in general the black subs are more popular than the BLNR, but I also feel they are more popular than the Pepsi and Daytona as well. This poll doesn’t ask which are more iconic, it just asks which one you would you pick if only one for the rest of your life to wear. Rolex forum members were given the choice of each individual SS reference within the 3 popular sports models purposely.

The results of the poll so far I believe represents the current “buzz” and popularity with the GMT and Daytona models. If this keeps up for 50 years, there can be a debate again which is more iconic.

The poll has the BLNR in 3rd place, with a sizable lead over the sub, black sub date, sub LV and black Daytona. It is just the reality of the poll results to date. To be fair, I could have included the jubilee vs oyster option, then I would be trying to lump them together like you. I typed all of this to kind of see your point at the very end!

Yeah we can agree to disagree. The majority prefer the black Sub over the Batman to me, they're essentially the same watch with a date option. But you can feel how you like

Agree, I updated my message. I could have included the jubilee and oyster option, but then would be trying to lump them together like you did with the subs! All that to see your point!

that was an easy one for me. having owned most of these (older references) I would say that the 124060 is the hands down winner. And I would actually love to own one

Perfect 2 watch collection indeed… lol matter of fact out of my whole collection I always sort of think as my sub(lv) and my steel ceramic Daytona as my main 2 babies! Same for you I presume

Yup. Has a car guy and a diver they check all the boxes. The quintessential Rolex looks in their best form and function for how I live and view the brand.

Me want both of them, very jealous. I actually don’t know which one I want more. Will most likely get the LV end of this year, but the Daytona just honestly won’t happen for me, but I am ok with that I can at least enjoy the pics!
