Blue seems more popular. Black is nice too, but it's the same with all Rolex and other brands references, people like blue dials more than black. Also the contrast of blue dial with Green glass is more interesting to collectors.

Perhaps you are right, however, speculation.
It has been said that Rolex does sell all of its watches each year so the black dial sell also.

…it’s kinda weird but I love my GV but don’t like the Zblue at all, even at 50% off.

Yes Rolex sells, but we are talking about secondary market demand.

The Milgauss GV with black dial was launched as an anniversary model back in 2007 and the green sapphire crystal works much better with that than with the later blue dial, IMO. The green and blue clash, while the green and black match.

In 100% agreement. Green and blue might go well in an oceanic themed watch but not for a STEM themed one.

Agreed, 100%. Plus, contrasting quarter-hour markers=lovely. Also, anecdotally, it seems like the blue was significantly more popular and likely to be seen in the wild.

The black dials with the "old" Milgauss typography were being sold new around the world for a few more years than the blue dials with the new typography. Until they revamped the site yesterday, you would see shots of the blue with the new typography and all of the black models had the old typography as well. That is my primary anecdotal evidence that they black sold much less than the blue...

Sad ti see it go. I always liked the green crystal and the lightning bolt.

This one one of their “historical” models. Made back when no watches were very anti-magnetic. The faraday cage tech they used was incredible high tech but now has been surpassed by antimagnetic material that lots of makes and models use. But that’s not the point. In Rolex typical fashion, they brought it back with the same double case, etc, so we could own a piece of history.

Same as the whole Sub line. There are much better dive watches. No serious professional diver relies on a sub alone for their dives. But it was the first so it’s a piece of history.

Same as the GMT. Developed with Panam airlines to try and solve jet lag on the new transcontinental flights for their pilots. Now it’s done easier and better by every smart phone on the planet. But it’s a piece of history and I’m happy to own one (and a sub) as a nod to history.

Sorry to see Milgaus go. It was unique and fun and the first.

-Dan

Only series with GREEN crystal, LIGHTNING hand, a CASE within a CASE - one of a kind, doubt they will revive it again in this form

The Z-blue is the only Milguass worth owning and it's a shame it's gone now. The white and black dial combos are nothing special.

However I suspect they will be bring it back in 2-3 years with something unique that will make it stand out again (e.g. the crystal, double case, hands, colorways, etc).

There is not, and will never be (IMHO), another Rolex watch with that green sapphire crystal. It's truly one of a kind and will hold it's place well in the Rolex history book. As a tool watch, it really no longer has any relevance- I'm not sure if the model will ever be revived.

Any Milgauss will be desirable in future. The orange lightning seconds hand r special. Very few Rolex sport watch has a white dial, love the Milgauss white. Black and white dial with clear crystal is the first to discontinue. Production number maybe lesser for white dial.

There were four dials, not three.

Two of them could be described as "black" and will get mixed together on Chrono24, along with other miscategorized watches.

Rarity is total guesswork but I think it's likely that the black non-GV Milgauss was produced in the lowest numbers, because it was discontinued first, presumably due to low demand.

RIP Milgauss. I regret not jumping on a Z-Blue sooner. I'm curious to see where the price moves as I'd still like to add one to my collection.

To me the Milgauss is for scientists just as a Submariner is for scuba divers, Air King is for pilots, Daytona is for race car drivers etc...

Indeed. Perhaps if they want to serve the audience in the future, they could have a mechanical calculator complication! I would definitely buy my second Rolex then.

16 Milgauss’s sold yesterday on EBay. Not one sold today. I guess the fear of missing out run is over. I’m actually glad the prices didn’t go crazy. Hopefully those who want one will still be able to get one reasonably. I think they a pretty cool watch.
