If a new SS sub is introduced, does anyone have an idea of what the lead time would be to get one in the US, based on recent past history of new model introductions ? They have this model already in other materials, it would seem to be that it wouldn't take them long to tool up, however, maybe they delay the release for sales reasons.

TURN-O-GRAPH.....41mm!!!!!!

Very under-estimated and under-appreciated IMHO.

If they launched a 41mm version i think it could re-invigorate this watch, which IMO is THE perfect balance between dress/sport.

I would be more excited about this than a revised Sub ss!!!!

I know little, Rolex rook here, but a SS Blue Sub will wreak havoc on my soon to be purchase plans....

Guesses, in order of probability:

1.Submariner - Ceramic bezel/maxi case & dial/glide lock clasp/brushed center links.
2. New DJ II dials
3. DJ II Jubilee Bracelet
4. 40mm Explorer I
5. Explorer II - Maxi case & dial/new clasp(not glide lock)/brushed center links
6. New clasp for the Yatchmaster (this one is coming for sure... but they might do it mid-year like in the case of the Daytona).

Wish list:

1. 36mm stainless steel Day-Date (since the DD II is the flagship anyway)
2. 38-39mm Air King (well 38-39mm DJ II is no longer a possibility so...)
3. Leave the 14060M, Explorer II, Daytona alone... (am not a maxi case/dial fan).

I don't think they should update the Green sub, but I think they will. That does not make sense to me.
Non-date sub is still up in the air.
Yachtmaster although has not been redone is still a relatively new model so I only see a bracelet/clasp update.
GT
Why is everyone so positive the explorer will be updated? Any proof or is all this speculation? As far as I can tell they have already updated it hence the extra "1" in the model number. They still have far more to go through before they get back to doing a new explorer.

I think it's because it has the old style bracelet, and is beginning to seem a bit out of step with the rest of the range. My thinking is that they need to do something interesting with it, or it'll start playing fiddle to the 36mm OP - why pay more for a watch with a bracelet that feels cheaper?

Great to read so many well thought out opinions.

I just have one wish.....that is for Rolex to have a high beat, 36000 bph movement.

Wouldn't this be nice?

Cheers!

Ceramic Sub w/date. Non-date and LV will be discontinued.

Larger Explorer I.

Updates to the Explorer II.

More Datejust II dials.

I heard high bph reduces accuracy. They reduce the bph to gain accuracy.

wouldnt it be nice if they start making complications like tourbillions, moon phases, power reserve meters, perpetual calendars etc. Not that I would afford to buy them but who knows some day in future..

I'm not sure if it has anything to do with accuracy, but it would, in theory, create more wear and tear in the movement, thus needing more frequent services. I believe Zenith movements use a higher beat rate than the more common 28.8k beats per hour standard

would be great to see certain rolex models with clear back case.

Of course, those diver's model would not be on the list.

Now that you mention it... You're right! I really like the chunky case on my DJ, would be good to see a similar update for the Explorer. I would most definitely NOT be keen on a 40mm version though, that would ruin it IMO.

There is talk around here of them discontinuing it altogether, not sure if I believe that one...

I think that you will see a ceramic Submariner in SS. Not to sure of the other things. My guess is that within the year or two that the Rolex 16610LV aka Kermit will be discontinued. Not to sure of the Non Date COSC Sub though. It's a classic. Need to think about picking up one someday. I would like to see a Ceramic bi collered bezel for the GMT2C. Both Coke and Pepsi. We will see on Thursday March 18th when Basel opens. Can't wait. Hope the Ceramic Subby comes without PCL= Polished Center Links. That would be a bummer and a turn off for me. Thanks.

When they redesign the EXII it will most likely have the large iconic orange 24 hour hand.

It can't cost Rolex much to make a different hand, and the Milgauss lightning hand is exhibit "A" of how Rolex has utilised a past discontinued design to relaunch a watch with a past iconic feature.

Just as the vintage Milgauss skyrocked in value and desirability so too has the vintage EXII 1655. Rolex can quite easily adapt this design into a modern makeover version.

Supercase, triple lock crown, maxi dial, and a very unique 1655 styled handset...

Yes it is going to happen.

Hold on to your seats, it is (Basel) coming in a few days time

Making a ceramic SS Sub w/ PCL would look too much like the GMT IIc. I can't imagine them doing that. The classic BCL look is best for the sub, IMO.
