Thanks for the sanity check.

FYI, I took it to the RSC in Beverly Hills since it's close to me to double check a couple of things on my watch. They described the lume color as a Tiffany blue rather than a darker blue, so it was within specs. I guess I was expecting a darker shade of blue on the lume. They also confirmed that I hadn't bought a fake. I guess I just wanted some reassurance after buying from the AD.

I'm not afraid of taking it into the ocean, but the pool worries me a bit more over the long term.
I'm in the pool for teaching, almost every day, with dive gear and SDDS or before it, my others watches.

No special effect on the dive gear neither on the watches IF you do a very serious rinsing after every pool session (as well after sea dives).

I do let my watch for an hour or more in fresh mild warm water after each dive (pool or sea)...

The dive gear from the others I see loosing color is the one which is poorly rinse and let dry in the sun. I don't do that and after hundreds of pool/sea dive my BCD still look like new...

I just don't know whether "hundreds" of dives are enough data points, but I appreciate the feedback. The BCs I see with a ton of pool time look horrible, and these aren't let dry in the sun because we use an indoor pool.

While the writing on the ring around the dial may or may not be desirable, the ring itself is an integral part of the RingLock System that gives the DSSD its incredible depth rating of 3900 meters. Removing the writing wouldn't have any effect on the functional design of the watch.

It is described here with an exploded diagram of the system. Use the "Drag to Navigate" button to see the diagram.

Hi to all,

Just come back from the Baselworld.

Could not resist to take this picture.

Kind of glad/sad that our dear SDDS is the last and unique representative of the Sea-Dweller family.

Also glad to close the argument of the size of our watch said to have been too big for some wrist (I'm only 17,5mm wrist).
A 44mm is already entering the category of regular size watches, all new brand/model are going bigger and bigger. Even the new Sub got bigger ;)

Cheers

I had a PAM as well, and after wearing the SDDS for a week or so I knew the PAM was not going to get much wrist time... Sold a week later. Have not looked back since.
