It's common courtesy. We're all adults and wear Rolex, so act like one. It was the OP who knocked on MY's door soliciting his service, why couldn't he contact MY and have this handled behind the closed door? MY is a reasonable guy.

Yes, I probably am what you call a MY's fan-boy as I have been using his service for the last 5-6 years and I've been happy with his works, and the fee he charges. He has not raised his $120.00 for years while very watchmaker and Rolex have raised their prices upward 60%+ during the same period. That's 1 /5 of what being charged here in the States.

BTW: When the time comes, those who shout " he lost my business " the loudest will be the first to knock on Michael's door, and not the other way around.

Breathe and breathe out, big fella. Rinse and repeat. I wasn't quoting verbatim but merely capturing a certain, shall we say, 'MY is a saint' kind of vibe. Don't trip out over the quotes, ok? And, no, I won't be sending your bud my bracelet.

Any chance this is a case of unintentional swap with another customer's bracelet?

Is there any sort of identifier (odd scratch, ding, dent, etc.) that can be used to positively identify this as yours and not someone else's ?

Given all the great reports we've gotten it almost makes sense that the bracelet was swapped by accident.

I think the main point is that 2 men should handle their business between themselves. If the OP was not satisfied with the solution, then come on this forum and complain. Seems cowardly to complain on a forum about a problem you have not addressed with the person that you have the issue with. I am sure a lot of members here own a business and they would love the opportunity to do right by a customer before they run to the Internet.

If you have no competition and your returns are not high...why not raise your prices instead of complain about your salary?

I never understood this line of reasoning: "why not contact the vendor first before bringing it to the interwebz"? OP did contact him "first", when he sent in the bracelet to get fixed! You can't say as fact that, had OP contacted him first, then the resultant offer to repair to specs would've been made. Isn't it possible this "bad press" is what prompted MY to make the offer?

The bracelet, in its condition (whatever that was) was sent to MY, who had the chance to look at it and then agree to do the work or not. MY Co. reviewed the bracelet, and agreed to do the work on it. Presumably, the company then surveyed the finished product before sending it back to OP.

If the bracelet was such a piece of crap, then MY could've notified OP of this prior to doing the work and inform him either a) he couldn't fix it; or b) it would take more work/more cost. It doesn't appear that these options were given to OP.

As far as MY Co. stating that this business is a losing proposition, well, I just don't get that part. If he wants to continue on with a failing business model, that's his business; maybe the joy he takes from repairing these items outweighs the financial losses in doing so. Then I say good for him for doing something he loves.

The forum members are all presumably grown-ups, who can do with the info found in these threads what we wish. We are big boys and girls who can make up our own minds as to which vendors we will patronize and those which we won't. Hearing the good and bad should only help others in the future. As one poster noted-correctly-he will still use MY but be sure that all expectations are clear and agreed-upon on the front end. I couldn't agree more.

I, personally, will use MY (if he hasn't folded up the tent) in the near future, because I've heard many good things about him. But to blast the OP for "not going to MY first" is silly.

When I have something sent out that sold or having fixed, I take pictures of it with the days date on it. Mr young you should take more before and after pictures to cover yourself. Also By reading mr youngs comments I would deal with him. He sounds like a humble guy.

Blasting RSC for a dust on the dial of a brand new rolex i can understand, but putting a rare breed watchmaker with a good track record over a $200 job resulting in a waxy DESTRETCHED bracelet with a pin protruding out to public scrutiny??

This whole thread is probably worth 1 or 2 WG links, depending on their stretched coefficient.
