I am thinking of getting one too as my first ALS, I wish I could have gotten the Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon, maybe next year if I'll be able to source one of the 15 ;)

For now it will be either one of these ;

Datograph Platinum with Black Dial

Zeitwerk (Didn't decide on the dial colour yet)

Any opinions?

You cannot really go wrong with either, the Datograph is a real classic but the Zeitwerk has such an original design that it would be hard to let it pass...

How about both?

I have some more Patek's on sight so I wouldn't buy both

I like the Datograph better actually but the only downside (vs the Zeitwerk) is the 39mm diameter vs 42mm. 42 generally seem better on me, but need to try them both in person first.

Do you guys know which material has been produced the lowest of Zeitwerk and Datograph?

Good news, the current dato up/down is 41mm

For the Zeitwerk there are:

200 of the platinum,
100 of the Luminous,
30 of the platinum Handwerkskunst.

The rest are continual production.

All the LE are long sold out and selling above retail if you can even find one for sale.

Yes its 41mm so perfect for you, altho I have to say I prefer the Roman numerals over the sticks so I will be going for the original Dato.

There's a 41mm moon phase coming out in the Spring, too. I'm excited.

I used to dislike checkered patterns but it has grown on me over the past years, red plaid is something I'd love to have on one of my shirts!

That one is very nice indeed.

To all the Lange experts in this thread, what do you think of the new Grand Lange1 Moonphase?

I prefer the older model, altho the myriad of stars is a nice touch, I prefer the MP on the subdial, more balanced and less obscured by the hands. I also like the lumed hands, gives the watch more character.

Yeah. But I bought it during the 50% off sale for EIPs at Mr Porter, so it was $300.

I must agree regarding the old model, the position of the moonphase indicator is classic and I prefer it myself, however, the new one remains a very nice timepiece.

As for the lume, I must admit that although it looks nice the lack of it makes the watch look much dressier. I quite like that.

[QUOTE=salihy;4650721]I am thinking of getting one too as my first ALS, I wish I could have gotten the Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon, maybe next year if I'll be able to source one of the 15 ;)

For now it will be either one of these ;

Datograph Platinum with Black Dial

I'm wondering what people think of the new ALS Perpetual Calendar "Terraluna"?

I think the back side is very cool, but the front side is too busy for me with the perpetual calendar, the intersecting circles, and all the writing. One of the reasons I love the ALS RL PLM Tourbillon I posted above is the simplicity and lack of clutter in a design that implements such beautiful complications. I feel like they tried to jam too much into this piece with the design template they used. But, I also have not been too keen on the Grand Complication for the same exact reason, so perhaps it is my own personal aesthetic and what I appreciate in a piece...
