Thank you both, I was able to locate the crown by taking a few pictures at different angles with my phone and zooming in; it is located at the 6 marker.

What a watch...
Hello everyone,
I'm new to TRF, although my Rolex experience goes back 30 years or so. In my late teens, my father gifted me his 1970 GMT Master. I wore it daily for years. In the late 1990s my interest in mechanical watches deepened significantly. Over the years I have been fortunate to enjoy superb pieces from A. Lange & Sohne, FP Journe, IWC, Chronoswiss, Ulysse Nardin and Glashutte Original. As such, the old GMT Master experienced a extended period of inactivity. In fact, I probably didn't wear it for many years at a time. More recently, as changes in my collection left me with a single steel watch (you guessed it) the GMT Master re-entered the mix. And surprise, I really enjoyed having it on the wrist again. Recently, I had a chance to shop for my first diver. New vs vintage. Well, since I had the vintage GMT Master, new might be a nice contrast. Tudor? Maybe. SubC no date? Maybe. Lets go to some ADs. The Tudors are nice and all, but my horologic baggage has me focused on movements. The Tudors are well done. But not for me at this time. In the metal, the new style SubC put me off. I didn't love the lugs. I didn't like it on my wrist. I noticed the SDc. Wow, a thicker watch to be sure, but I really liked the proportions. The HEV was a very nice technical feature (and it was born in 1967, just like me). The raised sapphire crystal was a nice find and similar to the GMT Master. I really liked the fully demarcated bezel. That the dial was slightly less glossy than the SubC was another plus. The modern movement was a pleasure to engage from the crown. Great lume. Terrific bracelet. A winner. It has been on my wrist every day since I acquired it a month or so ago. I could not want anything else in a steel watch that will handle anything I throw at it. Or my son, when he receives it at some point down the road. Cheers to all of you other fortunate owners. Rob |

This NSD is the perfect evolution of the most mythical diver in my opinion. Extremely comfortable despite its thickness and it looks bad ass and tamed at the same time. Monochrome, utilitarian and still somehow beautiful.
It grows into you. |
