Probably moving the eye loupe back and forth at 6 you should catch a glimpse of the crown.
Hope it helps and let me know with your success!
Thank you for posting this, I am delighted to come across this old post. I too love the little details with Rolex...such as the etched crown. Although I've never been able to find it on my Deep Sea. I also love the position of the Rolex crown on the actual crown of the watch, I would love to know how Rolex get them to sit correctly aligned once the watch crown has been screwed in.

It's a winding crown and its not really to line up with anything, the only watch in the Rolex line at the moment where the crown emblem will always be upright is the Skydweller all others just pot luck.

Oh wow thank you! I've never heard of it being referred to as the winding crown before. I thought I was using the correct terminology just calling it the crown. I shall always use "winding crown" in future. Why would the sky dweller be different? All my Rolex watches are all identical when it comes to the position of the Rolex crown upon the winding crown once they are screwed in. Also images in Rolex catalogues are always identical. I assumed all Rolex watches were the same. The SA at my favourite AD pointed it out to me, and he has actually been to Rolex for training.

The hardest watch to see the crown is on the platinum dial yachtmaster. I could not see it even with 20 mag. I have to go into a dark room and shine a flashlight at the 12 marker to get a glimpse of it.

Nice information; I'd like to add that on the Rolex I have which has the coronet etched it is below the surface of the glass. If looking at the glass at incident angle beyond the critical one (so all light is reflected) there is no evidence of the LEC so it must be inside the glass.

FWIW, I can find the LEC on my DJII without issue. The OP should have it by date but I'm still unable to find it.

Had trouble finding the one on my Deepsea with some of the tricks others have offered - laser pointer, LED light, dark room, low (3x) mag. Got a 14x loupe and held the watch up obliquely towards the sun and it was there in all its glory. Even knowing it is there I cannot see it without the loupe - those who can must have exceptional vision.

Those are sone great pictures. I looked for my LEC and must say it's really hard to see with the human eye. The right light and angle do the trick, but it's really tiny!!!

Time to share your laser etching on sapphire crystal. Every time when I look at it, feel very happy and nice.

Pl share your pictures and also if you use any special tricks to view or photograph them!

I have been looking for the crown on the crystal of my recently purchased 216570 Explorer 2 but the white dial makes it very hard to find!

Just picked up a cheap loupe from ebay with LEDs and easily found the crown..... lights up like a Christmas tree when you view it!
