My 114270 was my third Rolex, but oddly, it was the Sub that got me interested in Rolex initially.
It's hard to see how a person who is interested in the brand would not be interested in Rolex diver, especially a Sub. Sent from my SM-G900V

I want to add either WG Sub, 1680 or a 5513 to my collection.
Don't know if it's a must or not but I really want at least one of them |

One Rolex dive watch is needed for me (not Tudor although that was also needed). 14060 fit the bill.

If you love Dive watches then one will inevitably end up in your collection...I've gone through a 5513, 116610, 16610 and 16660...the 5513 my fave. Now I only have a daytona but I sure do miss having a Dive watch. Looking at the Black Black bay quite a lot lately.

My initial interest was sparked by the GMT Master because I have an affinity for aviation-related watches of any brand, especially those with a history. It's Rolex's pilot watch, has a function I use all the time, have always found them attractive, and love their history. That same interest, practical use, attraction, or sense of valuing their particular history has simply never extended to divers (including Rolex's) for me to want/buy/wear one. It has to have at least one of those things going for it to do so, and impractical WR ratings over-engineered simply for the sake of it doesn't grab me. For example, although I do have a DD and Daytona because I simply like the way they look, I wouldn't trade my old Glycine Airman or 321 Speedmaster for a Rolex Sea Dweller or DSSD. I'd rather have my early-edition Bulova Astronaut than a Sub. Hope that makes sense. Even if it doesn't, it doesn't make me a bad person. |

My 116610 is my only Rolex (so far, and likely always), and it sits among several Omegas and a vintage Accutron. But yes, IMHO a Submariner ought to be an aspiring acquisition for most watch aficionados.

My favorite watches are divers, so yes, a Submariner is a must for my collection.

Not for me, my fav is the GMT, but if I became a watch collector, then yes, the submariner is the ultimate dive watch.

No. Although it is an icon, I would rather have a less common piece.

Yes, but why stop at one?! These are a part of my collection.
1680 sub 16610 16610 LV F series 116610 116619 Still have others too but was a sub guy since 15 years of age so it was my favorite Rolex and remains that way. Love my other rolex watches but the sub is just it for me. |

I don't think you can really be a Rolex collector without a submariner in your collection. I also think that Rolex owners that don't get/want the submariner need an intervention.

It's preference I guess, I like oversize watch and after a while wearing Pam 372, I felt it's too small and for me I will buy the one that I like not because its a popular type.. Just my 2c Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
