Despite being a newbie in Rolex world I’d also identified myself with some of the principles shared by you in your posts. Hope to keep them in my future experience.
Thanks for sharing your experience and thoughts

Thanks Mario! I am glad you enjoyed it.
It’s been 5 years since I am keeping this thread and update it every time I sell/buy a new watch.

And yeah, Rolex retail experience is pretty much a shitshow now..even if u have previous history cos ya are still going against crypoto buyers who up ya in terms of $100k+ purchases. One of my other ADs flat out told me even if I buy a Tudor or omega, getting a sub from him is still 1-2 years away. He even encouraged me to consider grey market if I'm desperate. Its not like store has a shortage of sub buyers for years...
My AD has a 300k usd money spent benchmark to be on top of the waitlist.

Thanks. Same here. Got a few watches from AD before things got “crazy”. Nowadays, I mostly buy pre-owned but I try to stay away from dealers.

I was lucky to purchase the latest reference: 126710 for the retail price.

Is it from the AD?
No, it is not. It is from a private sale.

Congrats Mitch on being able to find a 126170 BLNR at MSRP on the private market!

A bit of update on my watch saga.

After a wait of over 3 years……..my AD called tonight. I was just getting ready for bed (early night) when my phone rung. I picked up and I was informed that my watch has finally arrived. I asked: “which one?!”. If I remember correctly I put my name down for a few models.
“It is the green Sub, Sir! You have 7 days to pick it up”.

Well, I put clothes on and drove straight to the AD. (Here its open until 23.00).
I can’t believe it. So, I guess its true, they started to get a lot more watches….’cos I honestly thought Ill never be able to get a new sport model from AD for the rest of my days. This surprise came a week after I got married so I guess its a good sign.

I think so. I was on the waiting list at two local ADs for a Sub. The first one (18 months or so) came in, in August I believe, and the wife bought it for me. No more than a few weeks later, the second AD called me and said that my Sub was in. I had to pass on it, as wearing two Subs would just look silly, but I did replace it on the list with a Skydweller, not that I can reasonably expect to ever see it, you know never know...

Very reasonable in my view. However I wouldn’t feel comfortable asking a dealer to size a watch purchased elsewhere. Easy to do oneself anyway.
