Do not buy watches to make money, buy watches because they pull at your heart strings.

I think Dan was just getting emotional

I can imagine the P01 brings that out in people

I can tell he is a good guy

The original prototype was made in the 60’s could you get Seiko divers watches then?

Yes. A few different ones around when project commando was on the go, some with the 4 o clock crown arrangement, some with out

People can have fun calling the P01 a modded seiko, it’s ok, I love seiko also. I think it’s a complement to both makers

Just spotted one today in Tenerife, didn’t go in to try it on . Might venture in tomorrow & take a better look . Certainly looks smaller than I thought it would , which is no bad thing .

I am wondering how a flat end brushed Oyster style bracelet would look in 20mm attached to the stock end link. There would be an initial step down from the 22mm integrated link to the bracelet but it could look fairly oem.

From what dan said, the spring bars on the end link are very narrow so it might be difficult to get ones with the correct diameter to suit the bracelet which has the correct tip diameter to suit the end link?

I am finding this thread fascinating. It feels like a real opportunity to MacGyver a solution and come up with something novel. Kinda like a prototype perhaps

Well I have collected my P01 now so I am in an ideal position to have a play about. Once I get the end links off it will be easier to see what there is to work with. I will have a play about Monday when I have some spare time.

The watch wears very comfortably on my wrist shape, very pleased with the pickup.

It's certainly not perfect as when you try to tighten the strap the hinged lugs can close up together as the NATO pulls them together. I'm happy with it for the time being but will be looking at different options. I do love this watch though something very different

Can you put a nato strap on the spring bars or does the metal piece have to stay there?

The lugs that the standard strap joins to have to stay I believe. I have not looked at removing them yet.

I agree, wears very well on the supplied strap.
Anyone noticed the snowflake pattern etched in the rubber on the inside of the strap?

Hey great work, I am thinking an oyster is going to integrate pretty well, just searching for something suitable right now.

Yours is looking increasingly vintage!!

Some good deals in the sale but their oyster has polished edges and poor reviews, looking at Strapcode.

That looks really cool. What are the details about how you did it and what does the clasp look like?
