Maybe it’s a cultural thing, I’m in the UK, but I find the idea of giving gifts to a shop very odd. They aren’t your ‘friends’, even if nice, helpful, people. They’re in business, selling stuff to make a profit. It all feels too personal . Now, if you’re going out on a date with the nice AD, that’s quite different.......

Champagne, like wine, is a personal taste. Möet isn't that nice IMO. Lots of nicer and less widely produced champagnes to choose from.

I agree, we are alot more standoffish than other cultures, than say our American and South Asian cousins, even when Americans call anyone older than them or unknown to them sir it feels odd to me, funny when we have actual Sirs rolling around the country and I would probably not even call them sir unless they insisted on it.

Clearly, we are in the minority here, but I agree 100%. Her salary / commission is her reward for selling store merchandise to a customer (most likely at full msrp).
