Seems very similar to the watch they discontinued a few years ago except that they've added some bolt-on looking crown guards; I don't see any other unique design language compared to other integrated watches on the market?

I will remain open minded, but at first glance I feel like they mailed it in while hoping that the recent success of the integrated bracelet market in general would do the heavy lifting. I'm disappointed. But it does make me appreciate so much more the other integrated watch entries like the 222, Laurent Ferrier Sport, Czapek, and even some of the older designs like the GP who bring a unique and interesting perspective.

Sorry, this is a huge letdown. For the life of me I have no idea why they didn't include a quick change strap system and clasp microadjust. The engineering prowess is there, as IWC has the best implementation of both of these things that I've seen on any watch I've owned.

Essentially same innards as the Mark XX, but the Mark XX has those two things I mentioned at almost half the price. So you better really put a premium on that Genta design to justify the cost.

I was hoping this would come with a strap quick change and include 2 additional straps like the VCO. That and some kind of microadjust system may have made the price more palatable for me. As it is now, no way.

Where is the IWC Genta Ingenieur?

$11,700 USD

$14,600 titanium. Same as a Rolex YM42 in RLX Ti.

5 day power reserve

I know they’re different styles and spec, but comparing the price point of this to a Cartier Santos definitely makes the IWC feel overpriced by a very large amount.

Long overdue release for IWC and I think they nailed it! This price is a little high (should be right at $10K USD) but should be able to get with some discount as is normal with IWC’s that are not limited and available through an AD.

Hope this release is successful and they build an entire lineup out of this while still honoring the historic design language.

I think the watch came out nearly perfect. About Effin Time did an entire podcast about the watch live at IWC. I recommend watching it.

If this watch was 8-9k, it would be an enormous hit. Remember, gents watches of the time from other manufacturers are priced retail over 25k. This watch has the heritage, now has the cachet as time and effort was finally put into the design. 11.7k US is not too out of line.

Agreed with most, it's nice, but it's not almost $12K USD nice. I think I would (and perhaps will) opt for the new Bulgari Octo Roma instead.

I think the aqua dial maybe one of the best releases of WW...

i am not an IWC guy. my collection is mainly formed of Patek, but i like the ingenieur in green dial.
value wise, when compared to the like of Czapek, Moser, Parmigiani... who have integrated bracelet offering, i feel the ingenieur is good value.

having said that, i am not optimistic this would be available at retail. time will tell.

Where is the IWC Genta Ingenieur?

Guys, it is 13.000 euro here on our part of the world, cmon …

And movement wise you really can’t compare the almost pedestrian iwc with Czapek, Moser etc …you just can’t

I was one of those who waited last couple of years to this reiteration from IWC but this doesn’t mean that I’m blind …

Those watches are nearly twice the price or more? I’m unsure of the argument here. I agree they they can’t be directly compared, and they shouldn’t be as this watch is half the price. Also, 120hr power reserve is pretty nice.

Also, it seems like the craftsmanship of the case and bracelet are thoughtful and well executed.

Guys dont freak out about the pricing, you can probably get them for ~15% - 20% off at ADs once the initial hype in 6 months goes away.

And then ~40% off used in clean condition full set in a year or so. :)

That is how I bought my IWC 3239.

it may change, IWC might be moving towards boutique allocation, especially the green one.

but we never know, IWC doesn't hold their value well

if its 40% off RRP, i get them in all colors lol

I've bought a handful of IWCs over the years, all at a huge discount and "used". By used, I mean basically new-old-stock that was barely worn.

I doubt this model will be any different.

If you want this watch, I think it's a secondary market model. This is where I think IWC's pricing strategy doesn't really make sense.

That being said, if the RO is unobtainable except at ridiculous secondary market markups, and the Nautilus is the same, and the Overseas (which isn't even a GG design) retails for $22k, then perhaps the IWC is not overpriced to absurdity.

I would not be surprised in next year's model upgrades the movement and perhaps adds a display caseback.
