What is stopping you? It is probably better than most of your watches combined, no? And let me venture if the Dato was a price riser than a faller you would have done this deal already, and so might have I.

What is your budget?
Are they the only ones you fancy or is it a budget and/or local thing?
What I’m getting at is would you consider a Saxonia model and/or travel within the EU to get the piece you ultimately decide to opt for?

It would likely be a chrono black dial in WG/plat but honestly I have only ever seen yellow gold in the wild so it's hard to narrow down a selection. Would need to be wearable with t-shirt and jeans as well, so I need to see more in person. I had a Glashutte Panoreserve which I moved on relatively quickly as it felt too formal so I would need a sporty-ish formal look.

I would need to move an AP chrono, a Speedmaster, a seamaster NYC edition, a Grand Seiko snowflake and a vintage DJ. Not "need" as in to free up the cash per se, but those would just not get wrist time if I did a major consolidation into a single high end daily. (So to your point AK797... I do think about resale but from those pieces you can see I don't chase "hot" watches). A couple of other Roles professional models would stay for other reasons and cover water based/rougher duties.

The datagraph seriously appeals as a daily to me as they are look gorgeous (even better from behind) but understated at the same time. I think I would be less self conscious wearing one than a Rolex costing a quarter of the price but know that people in the know would appreciate it if spotted.

Just a thought for the moment and yes, I need to try a few on and learn more about the different variants. I tried a 5170p on a little while back and liked that so think I could get used to the size/style.

As I said... Need to sit in a dark room and let the madness pass :)

Who else would you guys put up against ALS in terms of finishing? I haven't found anything (used prices) that really competes with my Lange 1 in the same price range. The soft used market for them really makes them an attractive buy IMO. Tons of horological bang for buck... :)

Thanks everyone! I love this watch more and more every time I look at it.

Out of all my recognizable watches which rarely get any special attention, I thought this would be the most descrete.
Funny enough, first time I wear it to a bar and an older gentleman approaches: "sorry to disturb you, I usually don't do this, but is that what I think it is? I never saw one in person, may I look?".
I was quite shocked, but it's nice to have a watch that is under the radar, yet those who know- they know. We had a few minutes of chat and he insisted on paying for my drink, quite a nice experience.

Just 10,000 more similar encounters and the watch paid for itself!
