Doesn't matter that the person in the trade that opened this thread was a pawnbroker. Who you deal with should not determine standards in how you conduct business.

I have no position on what constitutes a fair profit. As the seller correctly observed, I am not a watch dealer. My point is about disclosure.

Just my opinion. As stated over and over.

And I think one should disclose the truth about the merchandise one is selling no matter who one is dealing with, especially when there is evidence that the other party might be operating under the impression that the item in question is much, much more valuable than it really is.

The point in post #122 is a good one. But it is speculation. If the seller had said, "Well No, it did not cost anything like that", and the deal had gone through, there would be no need to speculate on what the buyer thought when he made the remark.

With respect to #2, I have not called anyone a liar, thief, or anything else. As I have said, it is really a matter of opinion on how to conduct business. People can certainly agree to disagree, which is where we are here, obviously.

I think you did great. I have worked my way up buying, selling, and trading vintage Seiko automatics. More then once I wish I'd have kept more of them.
