What do you do when somebody asks you if your Rolex is real?

"Well, I am terribly sorry for your decisions (probably poor decisions at that) that led you to your current situation in life.... However, I feel no obligation to support anybody but myself and my family and just because I have succeeded financially, it in no way obligates me to sell off things I have EARNED with my hard work so you can have a better life. We live in a capitalist society (not socialist) and you too with enough perseverance, hard work, good decisions, education and luck can succeed too." Man, people's sense of entitlement to others hard earned money really gets me hot under the collar. -Ok, off my soapbox now....

I went into a Ben Bridge yesterday with a TAG Heuer Calibre 36 El'Primero, and the saleswoman suggested that it was a fake, as she's never seen one. Probably because the store is too busy with their F1s and Aquaracers.

Was this Ben Bridge UTC? I was in there las week and also was not impressed w/ the sales lady whom I spoke w/ while trying on a GMT II. She kept telling me "although these Rolex sports watches look rugged, they are actually very delicate in nature and need to be removed when doing anything that may be athletic!" Also, became quite clear she had absolutely no knowledge about the brands history etc.

You would think the Rolex reps would spend just a bit of time informing these people about the basics of Rolex and how they became a symbol of success (rugged tool watch success) first and status second!

It was at the Fashion Valley store. The UTC store is generally pretty good (in terms of attitude) - can't quite comment on their knowledge.

I can't imagine asking someone if their watch was real. Really?

If someone asked me, I suppose I'd tell them that is incredibly rude to ask. Why not ask me what I paid for my house or what is my salary? Rude, rude, rude!

well i feel like whoever asks such question is someone who cant afford a Rolex, theres no need for someone to ask if its real. instead that person should take an approach complimenting first then taking a close look, if you know rolex you will able to spot if its fake or not.

I agree with your statement re: them generally being pretty good in the past, as I have purchased several Rolex watches from them over the years and been happy w/ them. I think this particular woman was a bit off however!

Down here we have a label for them, Bogan. I would proceed to tell her that I am paying for her welfare cheque through my tax and she should just go away and stop bothering the hand that feeds her.

says finally. Praise. I was at Starbucks this morning, sitting out on the patio and a gal joined me outside. After a few minutes exchanging wrist glances... she said hello and what a lovely timepiece. She was part of the club. She was rocking a ladies Datejust TT. We talked about how much we love our Rolex watches and about the weather. Married - with children. The perfect ones always are! Oh, well. Praise rather than hate...

I havent had anyone notice my rolex. Everyone notices my Cartier and my Tag Heuer. But no one has ever said a thing to me about the rolex. I also think that most ppl assume that rolexes are not as expensive as Cartier are. I have had many of my friends (ppl that I didnt even know knew about watches) come out and say is that real whenever I wear the Cartier. I dont know why that is, the only reason that I can think of is that I have a rolex that isnt your "conventional" rolex in the Milgauss GV. So maybe they assume its fake b/c it doesnt look like a rolex.

Only had my Rolex since July and have been asked twice if it was real.. Guess people should take that old saying on board..... "never judge a book by it's cover"
Just shrugged and walked away.... Think it may be envy or just ignorance asking the question in the first place.......
