I belive it's polite to follow up and provide an update when you start a thread that generates 6 pages of posting. Ppl are offering their opinions/suggestions. Some acknowledgement from the OP would be nice. Otherwise, no point in keeping it alive. My opinion!

I am judging the situation from my own perspective. If it would happen to me I'd go there and ask for clarification. I wouldn't wait too long.
Also, I would reply to ppl's suggestion and opinions since it was my decision to make it public and discuss it with the members of this community.

Daytona-C is turned everyone into entitled children.
But in all seriousness, I would be pissed off if you in fact bought that many PM models and two PP within on year time span. It wouldn't surprised me one bit if the AD said you were first on the waiting list and they most likely tell that to many other customers as well. The man who you saw with the Daytona-C probably spends more money than you or has a connection with the AD owner, truth be told. Unless your Bill Gates, someone will always have more money than you. |

Wow, I have not logged on since yesterday and just read through all seven pages! I have been a member of this forum for a short amount of time compared to most, but longer than some. I have posted SEVERAL incomings in both the Rolex and AP forum of some of my latest PM models. I am no troll and find it amusing that some can't allow me 16 hours to respond! While I love this site and reading threads, I have never been an "everyday" user here.
The AD in this case has more than one location and until everything is resolved, I would prefer not to mention their name. I do not want to tarnish a reputation if this was an honest mistake or a miscommunication. While I know that I am not the ADs #1 client, my initial comment was meant to be more of a joke, which is why I included that maybe I'm just blowing this out of proportion and that I shouldn't really be that upset. But the fact remains that I was promised the number one spot. It's more about principal than the watch itself. I checked with my salesperson, I had my salesperson double check with the manager. I made sure that everyone was in sync with each other about the situation. Just like some people are particular about buying a watch that has not been touched, I was particular about this. We all have our own "quirks." So I paid my AD a visit and explained to the manager of the store what had happened. She assured me that EVERY SINGLE SALES ASSOCIATE is aware of a waiting list for the Daytona C and that when a piece comes in, it is not to be sold or removed from any packaging by someone other than a manager. She made it very clear that there is no way a piece like this would get sold without her knowledge, but that it's possible it was transferred from one of their other locations to her store to better accommodate the future owner of that piece. She was very apologetic, extremely understanding of my frustration, and assured me that she would not only look in to it further, but that when mine does come, she will do something extra special! I will keep everyone updated. But please, some patience :) |

First of all i hope everything gets resolved soon, and looks like it will be in your favor. I am just a bit sceptical about ''apologetic'' and ''extra special''.. When i hear these words, i tend to believe that someone has been a bad boy. If they just transferred from one of their other locations to her store to better accommodate the future owner of that piece, then they did nothing wrong, but if they are willing to do that extra special, maybe they are playing hide and seek. In any case keep calm and play the game. You seem like an intelligent person. Good Luck.

Hopefully this was all just a misunderstanding! Glad the manager was apologetic.

Hmmm...the OP posts about what is arguably the hottest topic around - the Daytona C - and his AD experience which surely he knows would elicit a ton of replies and then asks us to have patience!! On top of that he does not want to mention the AD by name till all is sorted out. Then maybe his original post was premature! It would have been a better story if he waited and told us about his "happy ending" at the hands of his AD. Or, alternatively, what a miserable SOB his AD is for the way they treated him.

^ This one ^ If they told you that you were first on the list, they should stick to it. It makes you wonder how many "lists" they have. It is reasons like this that some ADs are in the same category as used car dealers. It's also reasons like this that makes people go with gray dealers. OP, Keep us posted as to their response. -Sheldon Sheldon K. Smith www.Minus4Plus6.com [email protected] ♛ ♛ ♛ ♛ ♛ ♛ ♛ ♛ ♛

I have an AD that I bought 6 watches from in the last 5 months. With a value of more than €80.000. I am probably not their 'best' client. But I do have a good relationship with them that I just need to ask for something (without a deposit) and I know that I will be called or mailed as soon as it arrives. If i say, keep it for two weeks for me, they do. So I think you should change AD...

So, who do we belive?
The manager or the guy you met and showed you the watch and the papers? Something is fishy. Either way, the manager should know something.

OP - Best of luck getting your watch soon.
I have no chance of grabbing a Daytone C any time soon based on the dismissive attitude of the ADs near me. |

I would be a bit upset considering your expectation due to your spending history at that AD and the sales reps verbal promise to you...BUT...
Are you sure your the biggest spender there? I bet there are a lot of big spenders that go to that AD and you got the big spender speech. The bad part is you caught them in their game. I'd expect this from any AD or business for that matter. Call them out and take advantage of that guilt trip. At best you can get yourself to second place which is still better than getting at the end of the list at another AD... |

He also may have been "#1 on the waiting list" but the two coming in the shipment next week were already sold/promised to another. Though it sounds like they told him that he'd get the first one.
I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. I'm on a waiting list at the Omega Boutique for the new limited edition Omega CK2998, I don't know where I stand and I'm not going to sweat it either way. I'm definitely not their best client. It may be very difficult to get, or not all that hard. If they call, I'll write a check. There are plenty of nice watches out there.

Confront the AD. Never buy from them again.
Edit. Just saw the manager's answer. I guess it's as good as you could expect. It's up to you know to decide if you still trust them and wish to give them your business. |

It really doesn't matter if he was top spender or number 391, (if I understand correctly) he was TOLD he would get the first one that came in, if it all played out as described he did not. This is a question of honesty and integrity to a customer. If a business says they will do something, then they do it, or I wouldn't be their customer anymore. I had a similar situation at my AD. I am FAR from a big spender there (but have bought a few watches over the years), but because of my good relationship with them, was told my name was at the "top of the list." About a week before I got it, my rep called me and was incredibly apologetic, saying one had come in but they sold it to a very good customer, I am sure someone that spent WAY more then I did in their store. She said I would get the next one. I was FAR from upset, and thanked her for the info. A week later, mine comes in. I have all the respect in the world for my AD, because they were open and honest. IF, the OPs AD was not, THAT is the issue IMHO, not who spent how much. |

We have similar post-watch purchase instincts. When I got my Daytona, I took it to be fitted and walked to a McDonalds and enjoyed a coffee & apple pie. No biggie. Seemed like the right thing to do!
