No such thing as boosting self confidence. To me it's about wearing a durable, valuable, useful and beautiful object. The sheer pleasure of wearing something nice on your wrist.

I think if anyone has to depend on wearing a Rolex for self-confidence, this person has serious self-esteem issues. Just saying..

Indeed, my thoughts too. Confidence comes from within no matter what objects you may possess. That said, a Rolex is very satisfying to wear! Cheers!

Lots of thes posts seem a little harsh. Just because you don’t get a boost from your watch, doesn’t mean it’s wrong for someone else to feel something extra. I don’t think its shameful to admit that dressing nicely gives me some sort of boost in confidence, and a watch is part of dressing nicely.
You guys don’t feel different in gym shorts and Casio vs. a nice suit and Rolex? I dress nice when I need to perform at a higher level. It gives me an edge to my attitude that I don’t have when I’m dressed down. It’s quite normal, and there’s no sense in shaming OP for pointing out the obvious. |

Well, when I put mine on, I find myself speaking the words, "by the Power of Greyskull." After that, I crush the day like an empty beer can. Women flock to me; banks offer to lend me money with no terms; my organization becomes hell bent on promoting me; tall buildings seem short, such that I can leap them easily. Sometimes I don't wear the watch to remind myself how everyone else lives. All thanks to Hans Wilsdorf. All too easy.

My entire ego is centered around my Rolex. Without it, do I even matter?

I get what the OP is trying to say... I wouldn’t say it gives me self-confidence. However, my choice to spend thousands on something as opposed to 50 because it gives me a level of happiness is true.
Does our hobby make me happy and do I get enjoyment out of it? Of course I do. Do I think people buying a Rolex for self confidence exist here on the forum? Of course I do. I also believe that these people are filling a void in their confidence or esteem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My personal impression of the 'average' Rolex owner - the person who buys one because "it's the best" or the "most expensive watch" or to show off - is really who I primarily equate to wearing a Rolex, not the people on a forum like this.
I know many people see a watch like a Rolex and think, "How could anyone waste so much money of that?" People don't universally see a Rolex as a positive. So, if anything, I'm a little self conscious of wearing a Rolex. It does nothing for me esteem. |

Not from the sense that it gives me confidence that "I'm killing it", but more of..."hey, I look sharp with this suit and this watch on" type of a feeling. A watch is functional, but also an extension of your attire and can affect your mood.

NOTHING. Self confidence comes from being competent and hard work. A watch tells you the time. These are two entirely different things. Just because you either saved enough money or ran up a credit card to buy a watch 98% of the world doesn't care about should only make you confident about one thing: what time it is.

Anyone on here who claims they feel the same wearing a well put together outfit or grey sweatpants and sweatshirt with a mustard stain on it is either lying or has given up on life. The same goes for watches. Doesn’t have to be a Rolex but a watch should make you feel good.

I enjoy wearing any of my watches on any given day, and love checking the time and admiring them on my wrist. Perhaps some of us are giving OP a hard time on an unfortunate word choice.

In times of great stress I don't even know I have a watch on.
In other times it helps me think about life and my goals when looking at the watch on my wrist.

The truth is out there. It lies between trivializing a Rolex as just a watch and aggrandizing it as an object magnifying ones personality or status.
If we are honest we all lie somewhere on that spectrum. I love my watches for what they are, mechanical devices, brilliant in design and function, but I am also aware that the prices they command make no practical sense at all. I do not wish to be judged by my choice to own them, nor will I defend that choice to others. I enjoy them. That's it. Perhaps that is somewhere in the middle. |

Me this is easy
"Playing at a Higher level" I set the goal at 15 to get either a subbie or GMT and ended up with a DSSD. it took a few years but I got there and it is a REMINDER of my goals, as for confidence well I got that any way, so my DSSD adds no assistance there L |
