Vacheron tend to work on the following basis (from my personal experience with a boutique and reading that of others, ADs will be different) :
Expression of interest: They take your name, add it to a list, but can't make a promise with respect to time. Similar to Rolex waitlist in that it's free to get on the list. I don't know exactly how these are managed, but imagine similar to other hot models/brands in that current customers and VIPs can get priority from this pool so it's not strictly a case of just waiting your turn. Placing a deposit: normally means you have an allocation. I.e. They know they are very likely to get you a watch within a set period of time (they often deliver sooner!). The boutiques will not accept a deposit unless they can deliver you a watch so having the cash ready to go would not prioritise you from the expression of interest list on anything that has a lot of demand. Given the current situation simply expressing your interest at a boutique is a good start for many models. You would then be contacted at a later date to place a desosit, mine was 50%, to secure your allocation. At that point, you can be confident they will deliver you a watch (perhaps within a few months). Sent from my SM-G780G using Tapatalk

This is an absolutely perfect breakdown! I was placed on a “waiting list” to leave a deposit for the blue dial 4500v earlier this year. Being placed on the waiting list is simply showing the boutique your interest for a particular timepiece. This does not mean you have been allocated unless they ask for a deposit. I have yet to hear anything from my SA. They are not taking deposit for any of the overseas. However, a few weeks ago I went to the boutique randomly and was presented a RG Chrono 5500v by my SA. This was my first VC purchase. Perhaps it was months of texting and building a rapport. I could not have been happier. Hopefully with this purchase means I will get a call for the blue dial 4500v one day. |

I know I'm being impatient but I've had a deposit down for the blue 4500v for 11 months now. Hopefully they have a year limit! Would be a nice end of year celebration gift to myself

Has anyone had experience with the online e-boutique. I am a flight away from the nearest retail boutique so have them a call. They put me on some type of list for the black Overseas and were fairly adamant that they maintain a single list across all boutiques including online.
I want to believe this is true, but…any thought or experience? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I was able to put down a deposit for a 4500V in blue with the e-boutique in July and the quoted wait time was 6-9 months. At the time, the NYC boutique had already closed their waitlist for the same watch. Shortly after, however, I believe the e-boutique also closed their list. The market has changed so quickly with the Overseas and policies seem to vary by boutique and region so hard to know what’s what. That being said, I find it hard to believe there’s a single list for all of North America. I imagine each boutique gets an allocation from VC and the boutiques figure out how to allocate to their individual clients. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This seems to be the prevailing sentiment I’m finding. Have been going back and forth on this watch for 2-3 years. Miss on my part as it seems the hype train passed me by. I’ll update the thread as I continue my pursuit.

I contacted the eboutique about the 4500v blue in July and it was not available. A direct quote from their email regarding the registry aka wish list :
“The registry encompasses the entire North American market, so it does not matter, in terms of allocation timeline, which entity you choose to join the registry with.” |

I think it’s time for Vacheron to have it’s own forum topic.

I spoke to the director or the London boutique who sold me my blue overseas 2 years ago and she says that the wait list is now 5+ years. Crazy

But I do agree that vast majority of the interest, or at least the postings, in VC has been on OS. But same could be said for PP and AP (with naut and ro respectively, although pp is a bit less concentrated on its most famous model). However, i think there are still a lot of interest in VC as a brand apart from, and beyond, the current focus on VCO |
