This is reference to my prior post asking opinions about aftermarket bezel inserts for the new 114060 Sub I recently purchased.

I called my AD to see if I could purchase a genuine Rolex blue ceramic insert, and they told me Rolex won't even put a blue insert in my model because it only comes with the black ceramic insert.

I went looking on-line for replacement insert bezels and came across topwatchparts which makes ceramic bezel inserts for my model. I ordered one in blue for $39.00 shipped.

I hate to say this, but I wouldn't doubt if Rolex buys these inserts from the same manufacturer. When I had both the inserts in my hands they were absolutely identical to each other! The quality, luster and print on the $39.00 insert was exactly the same as the Rolex insert...exactly!
Also, there were no official Rolex markings at all on the Rolex insert.

I replaced my black insert with the blue insert and couldn't be happier with the color combination.

Are the insert markers just painted with white paint? Kudos to you for being adventurous, but in my humble opinion the bright white painted markings cheapen the look of the watch. Not to mention that the platinum used on the Rolex bezel insert would likely last a lot longer without any fading, chipping etc.

Having said that, I would love it if parts like the Smurf bezel insert could be sourced and installed by Rolex.

Nope, it's not just paint, they're engraved just like the Rolex. The only platinum used on the Rolex insert is around the pearl, so there's not much at all on the insert. Well worth it too me for $39.00, ad I still have my genuine insert I could put back in at anytime. Thanks for the kudos. I'll take anything apart no matter what it is and put it back together, because if they can do it, then so can I.

Thank you.
Here is the link. The pearl looks fine, just like the Rolex pearl. Not sure how it will do in salt water, but I don't dive so I'm not concerned.

My 116610LV I picked up last year.

I think it’s a keeper. I love the thought of handing it down as a heirloom in the future.

Not true, all markers on the Rolex bezel are platinum coated.

Yes, I stand corrected, my apologies for the misleading information. I realized this late last night. If I can come across a new genuine blue insert I'll buy it being I'd rather have a 100% authentic Rolex, of course, but again, this was my only choice, unfortunately.

Is it easy to pop out, replace, and secure the ceramic (no danger of cracking)? What tools did you use? I’d like to put a fully graduated 40mm SD4000 bezel on my sub. Some guy is selling an “authentic” SD4000 insert from Rolex for... $1,300.

Edit: actually, not sure that they would fit. The site has the Sub inserts sized at 38mm and the SD4000 at 40mm. I thought the dial measurements were both 40mm (not sure if different case, but the SD4000 was made from 2014-2017 so I imagine a similar case to the Sub.

Yes, it was easy to remove/install the ceramic insert. I used a flat head jewelers screw driver inserted between the insert/bezel sliding it around the insert evenly until it came out. Of course there's always risk of damage, but this depends on how you work. Use patients and your head before doing this. The insert pops right in the bezel using even pressure. There's also a thin ring seal (at least on my '17 114060) that will need to be taken off the case, which needs to be placed back into the groove of the bezel before putting the bezel back on.

Doesn't sound like what you're looking at will fit. The Sub case is 40mm and the inserts are 38mm.

I've been meaning to come here to join this "club." Bought late last week and immediately my daily (after convincing myself to de-sticker). I love it!
