Every where I go it goes, have never taken it off for any reason other than moving bricks. Have never had an adverse comment form anyone. The majority never notice what you are wearing.

I use to wear my Rolex to work all the time when I worked in an office. Most people don't even notice you have a nice watch on, plus I don't care what people think (good or bad.)
Now, that I work from home I usually don't even wear a watch! :) |

I wear mine everyday. You obviously worked hard enough to purchase your Rolex, you should wear it. Forget what others think, just don't flaunt it.

What the heck is the point of having one if you're not going to wear it? Unless your job somehow prevents it.

I haven't been managing partner for many years. But I am a founding partner and my name is on the door. So I don't worry about dressing above anyone either. And I wear my Rolexes to work. I also occasionally wear my Breitling, my JLC, my GP, or my Glycine to work.

I try to fly under the radar and wear my Air-king to work. My LV sub sits at home and never gets wrist time just a bit on the weekend

I wear mine everyday.
I bought mine in 2006 (I was 31) after having a great year at work. Bought it for Christmas for myself. Wanted to reward myself for all of my hard work. All I've gotten are compliments. If you work hard, then who is anyone else to judge? |

Everyday, most people think I'm crackers working with tools (aircraft engineer) and
wearing a rolex but after ten years no one even looks twice at it or me! To be honest the thought of leaving it at home whilst I'm at work makes me break out in a cold sweat! To be honest I don't know another person who owns a (real) rolex let alone wears it everyday, thank god for TRF! Makes me feel normal! |

Dan2010, you are right on. I finally took my new GMTc to the river for 4th of July weekend. Everyone said I was crazy. I thought so a little bit... Anyway I decided I like wearing It and even thought an expensive watch. It's a Rolex. I told everyone to just wait And see what it looks like when we get home. I jet skied fell at 60 mph, played in the sand etc. Got home took it to my AD in an hour it looked new!!! Rolex is tough! You buy them you wear them!

Wear mine everyday. I thought you should dress for the job you want anyways?
In 5-6 years the only negative comment was from a competing consultant trying to show the the client I made too much or something. I said it was a gift from a happy customer. Lol! |

I feel guilty about having purchased a 2 tone Blue Sub Ceramic. I have no problem putting on Omegas or Tags, but in 2 years have only worn it three times. Now I plan to use it to motivate myself to do better, weight and health wise. Still feel guilty. But to sell it now I'd lose $ 3K in value. Might as well use it 5 years in those 5 years it will also go down just $ 3K. I'm the boss and work at home. So its not peer pressure. Both my father and father in law wore Rolexes. I don't know why I feel guilty. I spent $ 6K in stupid toy trains, $ 10K in cameras. Why is the Rolex the one I cannot stop feeling guilty about? Yet it is the only one that I can associate with personal improvements. Guess I'll have to keep it. It is beautiful.

I am making it a point to wear my new watch as much as possible. No point in having it if you are not going to wear the thing.

I wear my DJ everyday. Most people don't know what it is anyway which is fine by me :-). My workmates spent their money on other nice things like motorcycles and I spent mine on my watch.

Boss watch
Never dress nicer than your boss?
no problem here, I can wear my humble DJ everyday since my boss sports all kind of daytonas (PVD, TT, 16520) and many complicated Patek.... but I remember one of my father's employees, he always wanted to drive a nicer car than his boss but my father didn't care at all (and made fun of him in private occasions) |

I'm a restaurant owner and I wear my Day-Date almost every day. Never Rolex-less at work.
I don't think my customers care, or understand for that matter.

For the work week I will wear my DJ in rotation with my Date. People in my office know that I have two Rolex's however one of my co-workers wears a Sub 16610LV Kermit. Another co-worker that retired wore a 2001 Rolex DJ 16200. The women who handles the mail department has a 1999 Rolex ladies DJ in TT. My boss wears a ipod nano on his wrist and finds it more useful than a mechanical watch. No one gives a sh!t we are there to work and find solutions to further improve the company.

I had the same thought when my wife bought me the 16710 for our 10th wedding anniversary. I didn't want to wear mine to work as I thought it was too flashy for an IT department where people had Casio calculator watches!
I got over it and only take it off for running when the Timex Ironman goes on the wrist. It's a beautiful timepiece that's meant to be worn! There's one person here with some enormous Breitling Chrono and his monster doesn't even get noticed on the polo shirt days. No one really cares or notices, unless it's some blinged out diamond-encrusted Presidential or something. My $.02 |

not really; unless you are traveling to some shady stops in Brooklyn or the Bronx, I find no one gives a second glance at my watch, even at 3am.

"Most people don't know a Rolex from a hole in the ground"
Disagree about the comment that you should not outdress your boss. You should dress as well as your boss. You should dress for your next position/promotion. I also agree that most people don't know a Rolex from a Timex. Wear your watch in good health.

I am also in a techy role at work and can relate to this post. I use to wear an 18ct yellow gold & steel YM to work and it went down like a lead balloon politically. I could wear it but it always had to be covered. Now with the plat/steel YM I can wear that without much hassle because it's so low profile and from a distance could be any watch.
I think you'll be okay with the steel Sub at work because it is also low profile. If your boss makes a a comment you could say, yeah Swiss watches are only the best - or something like that. If it continues to get bad press then you might have to avoid wearing it, but I think you should be okay. Let me know how you get on. |

Just had a thought.
If you did get challenged at work you could say you picked up a great deal on a flipper. There's not much difference between a 2000-ish sub and a new Tag, around say £3k-£4k. So many flipped their rolex watches during the recession. Or you could just say it was a gift. |

I have two jobs. I wear it everyday I'm at work at my job as an airline pilot but won't wear it to my job in the AF reserves unless I'm just doing office work. It's too easy to ding up on the plane.
