For what's it's worth in an attempt to humor myself I called my local AD in Virginia this morning and asked if they had a white gold GMT (Pepsi). He told me they did not have one in stock but he could order me one. He called me back this afternoon and told me his rep (Bruce) told him the model was discontinued 2 weeks ago.

But let’s see ...Basel is only a month away.

That's exactly how it would work. Slightly revised case and bracelet taper. No more BLNR. 2 new SS models with the only difference being black bezel (LN) vs RONR bezel. Otherwise the watches are the same. All including new PM models will have new micro adjustment feature and 3286...perhaps with Syloxi, but that may not make it yet and come later. All the prior GMT Masters discontinued, but it's possible Rolex only does the PM intro this year.

PT would be the top dog in the GMT line up, people will buy for that reason alone.

Not holding my breath but a platinum GMT would be sweet. Ice blue dial with ice blue bezel for lower day light hours and dark blue bezel for upper night time hours. Any good Photoshoppers here who can whip this up for us?

Based on the information available, I have zero doubt the BLRO has been discontinued. I have no idea what might be taking its place, but if I wanted one, I would be making calls now to find one. The skeptics will come around in six weeks.

The real question now is what this says about future models. It wouldn't surprise me if this is the first move in a revamp of the sports line that updates the movement and refines the maxi case proportions. But that is speculation. All I have confidence in is the discontinuation of the current BLRO. The rest is anyone's guess.

If they did platinum gmt, I would hope it comes on presidential bracelet, throwback style.

Doubt it would. They already have the platinum oyster bracelet on the Daytona.

I'm not sure if Rolex have the balls to mess with the maxi case, they have obviously been a raging success, now more than ever, and changing the case could lead to a lot of resentment from many current owners, much like the BLRO in WG not SS created, so I don't think Rolex need to go there, esp when they will massively under-supply this model anyway.

Assuming Rolex intends to put the 3235 (and related variants) into the sports models sooner rather than later, do you think they'll just drop them into existing models with no redesigns for the foreseeable future? Or are you thinking redesigns will come with the new movements, but they will keep the maxi case, while making subtle tweaks? Or something else?

I think a model will require a redesign to drop the new movement into it

Part of me thinks a movement change only is a bit too little, but another part thinks in this frenzied climate Rolex should not do anything "controversial" so maybe minor tweaks to design if anything. I hate to say it but given the state of the market it might be best for Rolex to have a quiet Basel this year and just focus on churning out more current high demand models.

Or they would had wished they sold while prices where still high.

If and that’s a big IF they come out with an SS Pepsi or Coke, the 5 digit GMT prices will plummet.

My dead mother just channeled me, and her also dead source at an AD that has been closed for fifty years due to selling Turkish made Rolex fakes via ads written on the insides of public toilet stalls with the tag line, "Hey big boy, can you handle this Rolex?" My incredible source tells me that Google is buying Rolex lock stock and barrel for 7.6 Billion Uranium Slabovans. 1 Slabovan = 1.3786 US dollars, so the deal is actually worth 10.8B US dollars. WOW. I know that Uranium's get a great high off of maple syrup, so my advice to everyone here is buy as much maple syrup as possible or invest in maple syrup producers.

Oh, by the way, don't spread this around.

BLRO is reportedly discontinued as of today!

I’m not going to debate or entertain if the BLRO will be discontinued or not.

We, especially the WIS in us, are easily blind sided by our own wishes and desired for specific models, and start to fantasize for a SS GMT, without reasoning.

Rolex are not stupid and have a vision that is long lasting and far sighted. If they do in fact discontinue the WG Pepsi, they would not introduce a new SS GMT, for the following reasons...

1. The BLNR is hot and will get even hotter if it is not replaced by another SS model.
2. Replacing the WG Pepsi with a WG Coke will only create further boost to the WG Pepsi as it would be a short run and collectors would run dry any inventory ADs will still be sitting on.
3. They can create a renewed and desirable interest for a WG Coke by ensuring the Red is Red and not pinkish and add a single red line for the GMT Master II on the dial.

I see absolutely no in-it for Rolex to introduce an SS model. They are in it for the long run and introducing and alternate SS model to replace the BLNR will only be short sighted on their part.

Lastly, and IMHO I would not trade my BLNR for either an SS Pepsi or Coke. The blue for day and black for night makes perfect sense! Red is too loud and make the watch less versatile.

Cheers
L

That makes what? 9 different AD's in 24 hours that have confirmed its discontinued? But yet there are some here that continue with the "It's pure speculation blah blah blah".

Give me some of what they're on it must be good

Such is the internet. Contemplating picking one up. Not because I think the price will rise but be because it’s a great Rolex and time is ticking to get one new!
