Can I get some discount on a 3 year stock watch?

Really like the timepiece but seems lately price jump is quite big.
So is this piece the previous version of the movement that primes the minutes at 5 seconds to the change or the revised version- both have the same movement number so you will either need to see it working or check the movement architecture. Have ALS actually announced a new version is coming - I know it has been mentioned on forums frequently.

Is the new updated movement. No preload function.
Officially there is no announcement for new Zeitwerk but rumors mention that new update double barrel that introduced to Zeitwerk Date will be introduced in the basic model also.
The basic Zeitwerk with 36 hours power reserve both in White and Rose Gold are out of production currently.

I believe Lange will not announce a new basic model until all the current models shipped to ADs and Boutiques will be sell out.

To be honest I do not care for the new model as will not be my daily watch therefore power reserve is not key decision factor.
My main concern is how much should I pay for a watch that for 3.5 years is on dealer drawer and tried from many potential buyers.

They have told you they have had it for 3.5 years?

Yes it is not secret. There is public database with movement serial numbers and date of production.
On this price level timepieces both seller and buyer respect each other.

The blue hands generate some kind of halo in the crystal with the sun in a specific angle, very cool!

Such a warm watch!

Any word on how the size (dia/thickness) of the basic Zeitwerk might get updated? I was thinking of getting one now, and the possibility of extra PR on the new one is not an issue for me either. I was thinking about wearability of the new one on small wrists (6”) compared to the current one ...

Thanks 🙏

If anybody knows, they are being VERY tight lipped.

Have you tried on the 140.029? That’s 42mm and is going to look large on a 6” wrist. I have a 6.5” wrist and it’s the absolute max of what I’d try and pull off on watch that is elegant as the Zeitwerk.

The Calendar is 44mm and there are rumors the “basic” will also come in at 44mm. I personally don’t buy it, but maybe that’s just hope on my end. I’ve tried on the Calendar and while that’s one of my absolute favorite watches, I would never buy it because it is just way too large on a wrist my size.

Thanks for the reply! Actually my worry is that if they release the new no-date version with a **smaller** size (small dia and thinner) then I might regret buying the old one now. After all, they managed to make the date version thinner, in spite of 72 hr PR.

I never had a chance to try on the 140.029, but it has been on my list for a very long time. I just love pretty much everything about it (maybe except the size) -- matte black dial, juxtaposition of simplicity and complexity etc. Who knows how they are going to update it ... they will most likely make some minor aesthetic changes (like the old dato and new dato) and I may not end up liking the new one ...

Decisions, decisions ... ha ha

Keep in mind the Zeitwerk is expensive to service, IIRC about the same as a Datograph. Also I think a model that old has the old movement that preloads. I would personally spend the money for a Zeitwerk still under warranty or on the "new" side of things such that you aren't spending $$$ on a service...as the cost ends up being the same.

Thank you for the feedback.
The specific watch has the new movement without preload and as soon as I pull the triger the warranty will start for 2 years.
Indeed the service for Zeitwerk costs really high amount 4.000 euros and according to AL'S service required every 5-7 years.
Still considering if is the right time to buy Zeitwerk and after few months the new model comes out.

If the piece is 3.5 years old (bearing in mind the database of movements and cases is only a guide) then I would be asking for a service to be included in the price for you to make use of as and when appropriate. 👍

I’m picking up a 40mm Saxonia Thin on Saturday, very excited!
I know it’s very plain and I’d love a Lange 1 but want to experience the quality at the price I sold my Rolex Yacht Master II for yesterday.
I’ve owned a calatrava in the past and want that special piece of high horology feeling again, had enough of mass produced Rolex sports watches now!

The only problem is you can't adjust the minute hands for 0.5 time zones like Adelaide, Darwin, Lord Howe, India, Cocos etc.

How do you mean adjust the minutes hand? I understand that it only represents 24 hour zones but don't follow your point about adjusting the minute hand since it needs to represent the city shown?
