Five digits look feminine to me and the Daytona needs to be 1mm larger.

Well this thread is still going so might as well lay down on the couch and talk
The smurf is a molested sub for 3x the price. The milgauss blue shouldn't be worn outside the Miami Dolphins stadium Most of these vintage watches being sold appear to good to be true Tupac wasn't a gangster Tire kicking is occasionally great fun at ADs Many trusted sellers don't have great prices The idea of a Rolex being a value store could end tomorrow Brand is the first consideration for 99% of watch buyers Hard shell tacos are for the the birds |

I hate being sold a PM watch 8 months before they unveil a stainless version that looks better and sells for 1/3 the price. Damn! I love that blue dial.
PS: I hate the Yacht Master II. and anything two tone. And why doesn't the Daytona have a date? And why can't I find a IWC forum that doesn't suck? |

I'm angry & upset that Rolex has abandoned drilled lug holes.

YMII is for wannabe rappers
Hulk bezel is gross I'd still take a Speedmaster over a Daytona even if they were priced the same. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

From what I have read of this thread, it should be a sticky, as other have mentioned. This is one of the all-time TRF threads! Can't wait to read it all.
Way to go, Jambo86!!

I really like modified Rolexes. You do it to your car/truck, your motorcycle, etc. Nothing wrong with customizing your Rolex if it makes you enjoy it all the more. Understanding, of course, that it does impact the resale.

The bluesy is tacky.
The BLNR is an over hyped fad watch White gold is for the wearer. Yellow gold is for everyone else to notice. There. Said it. I feel cleansed

I DO care about scratches.
A modern Rolex with "character" is a rationalization for owning an expensive watch that looks junked. (Uh Oh) It does not make sense that classy, classic Datejusts and Day Dates can be had in 41.5 mm but the classic sport models are 40mm. The Daytona looks better on a woman's wrist. That it took Rolex 60 years to offer solid bracelet links explains the utter disappointment in the Oysterflex. I hated the hulk. I own the hulk (and I even like the color of the hulk bezel). Gotta go. More later. |

Patina makes watches look crap. You wouldnt pay a premium for a weathered and rusted old car over a clean one.
Cellini - Sell eeny or Chell eeny as in cello? The Pepsi GMT II WG is £28,000 here in the UK and looks like EXACTLY like the SS £6,200 version with a bit of colour on the bezel Batman. Dafuq came up with that random nickname that means nothing in relation to the watch WRUW threads daily with pretty much the same watch (for us poor people who dont have 12) get a bit repetitive (he says having posted in a few this week) That rubber strap thing on the Daytona ... To refute one comment about the BLNR though, I think the slash colour scheme is a bit aviation like a horizon instrument cluster |

A good number of Rolex owners think that they are superior to people who love other brands that are less expensive, but actually comparably built. I think they secretly know that said brands are comparably built, which makes them speak negatively of those other brands even more.

Best TRF thread in a long time.
There are a few Rolex models that are IMHO design abominations. The DJII and DDII were simply out of proportion....but have now been corrected, and the YMII should never have seen the light of day. Then there's simple logic....Daytonas are sized for the ladies, Deep-Sea is for...? But here's my real gripe....What has Rolex got going on with its taste in colours? (and yes to all my American friends....colours, not colors). The "Hulk" would look so much better in a darker green. The Smurf looks cheap. I simply couldn't live with that BLNR blue. And the Platona's bezel is truly the colour of sh*t. There we go...I got all of that off of my chest. By the way.....I love the brand to bits, and have no desire to wear any other watch.

I don't like the BNLR I think it's a fad and everyone will forget it after a few years.
I also don't like the feel of the Daytona. Quite like the YM2. Even two tone. I said it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Oh...and I forgot to say:
To those that don't "get" white gold and platinum....don't worry, it's not your fault.

Never imagined for a second that this topic would get such a response. It looks like it's been somewhat "therapeutic" for many. 😂

Modern Rolexes are jewellery. They are not tools.

Oh, and the modern daytonas are too small. 41mm-42mm is ideal for almost any sport chronograph thats got a standard round ish shape, especially for legibility purposes (and why no stopwatch is small when its on its own)

I believe that using descriptive phrases like a "fat lady" case or a "nipple" dial when describing older Rolex model features are examples of crime speak and/or are politically incorrect and worse, sexist.
Come on, guys, it's 2017-please have some sensitivity because you never know-there could be some snowflakes reading this forum from their safe spaces.
