I don’t see why some members need to keep lecturing about the perils of paying over msrp. I did for some of my pieces and I am totally fine with it.

If you can afford it and you want it fast, it's pretty much your only option.

Yes, it’s silly. You are buying at the peak of the market and overpaying grossly for a watch this is not limited and is still being produced!
There you go....

Peak of the market within what timeframe? Future market prices aren’t predictable. And value is always subjective.

For instance, a few years ago, many on the forum thought paying $35k for a still in production 5711 was nonsense. They thought the market had peaked. Today, many are regretful for letting the opportunity pass.

I get where you’re coming from, and personally don’t think the BLRO is a buy at current market price. But I could also be wrong.

Obviously this is opinion and it isn’t forward looking, but a new GMT has never cost more on secondary market than it does now...hence the term “peak”.
I think anyone who would pay over $15,000 for a current model steel GMT that is still being produced is foolish at best, but that’s just my opinion. Some people can’t resist the urge to own what others cover....the age of instagram.

If you liken buying machine made watches with your actual investment portfolio, you have bigger issues than debating the peak of a GMT. The OP asked to be talked out of buying one, and my response was based on that. Sorry if it hit home and made you realize the money thrown to the wind on a steel mass produced watch.
Carry on.....

From what I have seen here in the UK the BLRO is still very limited, where as the BLNR is supplied in much higher numbers. I think going grey for the BLRO makes sense, but not the BLNR.

Indeed I do!
You did ask to be talked out of it, correct? Was your post really an attempt to have people talk you “in” to it and justify it?
Kinda like saying “I feel like these jeans make me look fat”. It’s absurd...be honest with yourself.

Of course. The only thing we do know is that it is still being produced and is a $9,000 watch.

Are you going to just keep piling on to the OP? Looks like you started around 7.30 this morning. Give it a break already. You act like he spent your money. To each his own. If he chose to pay a premium so he can have a GMT on his wrist, more power to him.

I knew you were gonna come back with that point. I took issue with your Instagram comment (which I don’t have or look at). Don’t appreciate being psycho analyzed even though you don’t know me at all. Which you’ve just done yet again in this post. Glad you aren’t swayed or influenced by anything other than yourself. You must be Ghandi. Enjoy lovin your sub....

Exactly. Glad I avoided buying Apple and Amazon years ago when both were at their "peak." Sure, I've lost out on a TON of profit but I didn't feel foolish at the time which is the important thing lol

Ha! I posted this morning, now I’m back. Are you tracking my usage? I’m the first to congratulate people or mind my business if not asked, but when you make a post asking for opinions, you should expect them.

Again....don’t make a thread asking for opinions and get mad when people actually give them. People make fun of my DSSD all the time. Doesn’t bother me a bit, as I buy what I like and am not a sheep (and I paid below retail). If you’re happy, that’s all that matters, then stop replying to me. I will continue to defend my opinion when asked for it. Enjoy your $9,000 watch. It’s a great watch.

Exactly. We know it's a $9.7k watch based on MSRP. We don't know if it's peaked or not based on supply/demand, or anything else.

Opinions on whether to pay the premium are/were welcome and wanted. You have a right to your opinion, and it is one others share. No issue with that.

But implying anyone who would pay the premium is doing so just because of instragram or because they are a "sheep", as you've now said, is the annoying unwanted part which I am responding to.

Like you I've got pieces others don't love, for example my "t-rex" explorer 1, which I like better than the much favored on here mk 2. Or my breitling superocean 2 with about 1,000 numbers on it which people think is too chaotic. I've also got zero daytonas, even though I could.

I've got no issue continuing to reply to you either, it's just an internet discussion. I've got no ill-will on my side.

Perfect, this is more like it. It truly is my opinion that this Instagram/“look at me”trend is what has driven this market crazy. I don’t use Instagram, and neither do you, but I think you just had to pay a premium for your watch because of it.
I truly like the watch, it’s fantastic. I just can’t bring myself to pay over retail for any of them, as I think the bubble will burst, so I offered my opinion. I also didn’t realize when I first replied that you had already purchased it.
What’s a few thousand to enjoy something you like anyways? Enjoy it

Much appreciated! And I do agree that is a factor in the crazy market. What does a bubble bursted world look like to you? You think BLRO will be available at a discounted MSRP from an AD? Or below MSRP from a grey? I can't imagine that scenario for this particular watch, even with an economic downturn, but then again I've got no expertise here to be honest.
