It even occured during the split last year when certain members went off to start their own forum and write their own rules as it was unfair to ban talk of guns but sex with sheep is okay etc etc (although last I heard they had to limit the gun talk as it was causing the same problems as it does here).

Anyway, Steve's point is spot on. This argument will always be a moot point as the target is a piece of comedy fiction. I'm pretty sure nobody here believes JJ has actual relations with a sheep, the same as I hope nobody thinks Paulie is in the mafia, Joe is obsessed with crab flavoured snacks, martin is a transvestite, I pick up men at the bus station, Frans lives in a bathtub full of gin , Jim lives solely on corndogs or Steve is in fact a Guinness drinking Squirrel...it is all part of the fun.

It is taken as a joke and those involved are in on the laugh. To compare it to threads about "this is my collection" etc is crazy.

People are passionate about their collection of guns etc and therefore the posts are serious. The problem is, not everybody is as passionate about these things and maybe some are even offended.

The OP made a pithy comment about people being frightened by a picture of a gun...that is not the case. People aren't frightened by them, they are just concerned by them and the safety of the owners, their families and those around them.

I'm not bothered and concerned about a picture of a sheep in JJ's kitchen and I'm pretty sure a chunk of the membership aren't.

How do I have the audacity to say I know that?

The thread is still there! If enough people were upset about it and complained to the admin, I'm sure measures would be taken.

That's the sum of it all really, just like real life. If something offends, contact those in charge.

If you lived next door to somebody giving you grief, you'd talk to the authorities.

If you went to a restaurant and the people at the table next to you were swearing, smoking or whatever, you'd talk to the manager.

As I said before, it's simple really.

This must be the longest thread about nothing that I have ever read... Well, there was the 3-word thread...

There's your problem. If you went with the sheep costume you'd have been golden.

He's probably talking about Gedanken's Sykes-Fairbairn on his beret.

Yeah, I did and I also explained the historical significance of the FS as a symbol, not a weapon.

You're preaching to the choir, chief. I know all about that fine blade.

That is one heck of an achievement, too.
