honestly skip the AD and just contact the RSC's directly. You can call first and then start emailing with someone for follow-up. Ive dealt with Beverly Hills and Dallas. From my experience Dallas is the US "hub" as Beverly Hills has deferred to them on some repairs.

I guess now that Im thinking, if you have an aftermarket bezel they won't service and you can't buy parts direct. If you can source an authentic bezel and have it installed then you should be able to send it into an RSC for "service" and during that service request a new bracelet and mid-case. You'll have to pay for a full-service which is like $900, Bracelet maybe $1200, and midcase maybe the same ? Im not sure, but the up-side is it will be 100% working and like-new, and I think comes with a RSC warranty for some time maybe 1 year ?

Also at RSC, if you send it in and ask for a quote with the above, you don't have to do any of it, you can decline service and have the watch sent back to you. I think you just pay return shipping.

LAWW polishing is about $950, but results may vary based on how much metal you have left.

Again many thanks. There is RSC Miami close by and I do have an original dial and local watchmaker is going to put in for me. The bezel is the last frontier before RSC, watchmaker in combing his sources.

Hi All, I have a champagne dial 17013 and wanted to change it to another dial colour (via RSC), can I ask what your pick if given the choice of Black, Silver and Blue?

Currently I have the 116623 (Bluesy) , 116622 (Yachtmaster 40 Blue) and a 118238 (Champagne dial daydate).

Not sure if I go with the Blue, will it be too bluely in my collection? haha first world problem.

Ive found that the darker dials pick up the most reflections underneath the cyclops, but you can solve for this if you get a new AR crystal from RSC at the same time you do the dial. I have one of these on my 17000 and it looks so much better.

Onto the colors, I like the idea of getting a blue one, but you already have a couple blue dials so maybe go with black to get some variety ?

Hello,

Since Rolex updated the cost of battery exchange service to 70/100 euros I am planning to buy the tools to exchange to battery of my oysterquartz by myself.
Does anyone knows the size of the screwdriver to unscrew the battery bridle that holds the battery?
It's 1mm?
If it helps the screw reference is 56011-3

Thank you in advance for the help

Does anyone know the case dimensions? I've owned Datejust and was curious how the case sizes compare.

What is the lug-to-lug of the Oysterquartz case?
Not sure the exact lug to lug but because of the case and integrated bracelet it wears bigger than a 36 mm watch. Compared to my Explorer 14270 it feels much heftier and looks bigger on the wrist. Hope this helps. They are great watches, I love mine, especially in the two tone. The gold links have a satin finish, (basically brushed) so they are not so shiny compared to the rest of the bracelet. With a little patina they look fantastic. Not to mention the bracelet is way better than most vintage Oysters I've tried on. Seems like it would be pretty hard to stretch.

You should be able to take it to any decent watchmaker that services Rolex, and they should be able to put a battery in for you. I've had mine changed twice since 2017. Still should be someone who has the tools and is familiar with the reference. I paid $20 the last time I had it changed.

Some great examples here guys.

They seem overpriced for their condition. If I were to buy one today Id be looking at this one on chrono24 https://www.chrono24.com/rolex/rolex...id19987835.htm

They're two of the lowest priced (full set - in Europe) on Chrono24?

That isn't a full set though.

And no price either.

I hate 'Price On Request' ads.

Chrono24 prices do not reflect the real market pricing

Id prefer condition over full-set any day, and you can always send your watch into RSC for a "new battery" or something to get official paperwork, most people will value it similarly to papers. Boxes don't mean much as you can buy replacements online.

I guess Id be waiting a little longer for something to showup. IMO lots of nice OQ examples are still popping up and they don't go for much more if any that the overpriced stuff on c24 you just have to be patient.

I took a look at ebay sold listings and saw some really nice examples selling for between 5-7k

worth an ask right ? That one I linked is really cool with a buckley dial and some patina'd lume plots. Offer him 9250 euros I think thats more than fair and at the top-end of the market for OQ.

Yet, you linked to a watch on Chrono24?

We'll have to agree to differ.

I'd prefer a full set any day. My preference.

As I posted - I don't bother with 'Price On Request' ads - either name your price or don't bother as far as I'm concerned.

As I say (write) we'll have to agree to differ.

Have a good day.

Bought this about 1-2 years ago from an AD and I definitely lucked out on it, whoever owned it before me must of never worn it and kept everything; inner and outer box, manuals, leather warranty card and manual case and also came with a one year Rolex warranty. It was in pristine condition with no bracelet stretch no scratches it honestly looked brand new almost. It didn’t even look like it was polished by anyone either. And the price I got it for was amazing for the time. I enquired about it and asked for a discount so they gave me 200 off so the next day I put the order in and the price jumped over 2k more, I complained about it and they said they updated the site to current market value but they will still honor the agreed amount so I immediately purchased it.

The cheezy green plastic one is what mine came with in '84. It disappeared long ago.

After wearing it a few time I found out my 17000 has a wrong bezel, probably from a 16000. Right now is under restoration, it's going to get a new bezel.

Can someone check for the measurements, mine is the one on the right.

I think the right box for a 1982 is the reference 68.00.2, inside logo Creation Geneve ROLEX, Moon Crater outer box. The only difference from regular 68.00.2 is the proper one should have the OYSTERQUARTZ hexagon on the outside top

I'd be interested to hear... do people prefer a gold or stainless steel OysterQuartz?

I am thinking mostly in the comfort of wearing... and the weight comparison?

I'm torn between which to buy.

Not keen on the bi-metal models.

Any thoughts appreciated.

As far as I know, except for one very special model, all SS OQs are Date only, while all YG/WG versions are all Day-date. As far as I know, the latter are much rarer and therefore much more expensive. For example, I thought about buying a WG for a long time, but I decided not to buy a quartz model with a PM case at such a price. If I were to buy a watch in this price range today, it would be something else, like a Day-Date or a Daytona, but not a quartz watch.

But to be honest, and in contrary, to own an SS OQ is great, having two is even better
