That is really shocking to hear because my experience has been completely different. Most of my Lange spend history has been through my AD over the last decade (4 pieces) and the boutique was still willing to accommodate me. Outside of using the boutique for servicing and the occasional watch strap purchase, I didn’t have any watch purchases on the books. I ended up getting a WG Odysseus a month or so after my formal request. However, they were very transparent about the unlikely event of securing the steel model. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

…meant to say that it was unlikely they could secure before the end of 2021. But they said before summer 2022 was a higher probability.

You know what, you’re right. I’m an idiot and didn’t realize the difference between boutique and AD. I bought from an AD not a boutique. I thought you meant did I get it from a grey type dealer. I bought from Oliver Smith. My apologies on the confusion.

Ok whew. Got me worried since I'm going for a steel Odysseus but haven't spent nearly as much as you yet haha.

Happy to be able to finally contribute to this thread. After a bunch of ALS soul searching, I finally picked up the Saxonia Outsize Date last month.
I made two short clips highlighting some of the details on the case, dial and movement, since I couldn't find any good videos of it when I was in the market. |

Hi, I have been saving up and now ready to purchase my first lange but will probably do so in the resale market as the model I am after has been discontinued. Just a question for all, what should I take note of when I inspect the watch to check for condition and authenticity outside of box and paper (e.g., rolex has the serial number engraved at 6 oclock)
Thanks! |

Check the case number and the movement number. If I recall correctly, case numbers started at 110000 and movement started at 1 in 1994. Assuming 5,000 watches per year you can estimate approximately when your watch was made. The two numbers should also be roughly the same difference from 1994. Just a sanity check that may be helpful and that should match up with the year from the papers. Another thing is to find a high res pic of the movement and compare to the watch you’re going to buy to check for any obvious difference. I don’t think there are high quality fake Langes out there due to the level of finishing (if someone could fake it they’d already be a high end watchmaker) so just another sanity check (ie. Location and number of jewels, etc). Also, for big date models, make sure to switch through the entire month |

There's an app called "watch accuracy meter." with it you can check the beats per hour (and hertz) to check the movement matches the specs. Also will tell you the timing accuracy which is nice.

That Dato is amazing. I have been contemplating trading a few of my pieces to order a Dato, Zeitwerk Date or the Lange 1 Perpetual. Wish I could Find someone who owns a Zeitwerk Date - not sure if my wrist can support a 44mm… how does the Datograph wear? Do you have it on the deployment or buckle? Awesome piece! Enjoy! One of the most beautiful, harmonious annual calendars on the market today. Rapturous in terms of look. Unique manual-winding caliber with quickset adjustment. Everyone who jumps into ALS always goes for the 1 or some sort of chrono, why people overlook a piece like this is beyond me.
Pure flames!!! Congrats

Wow! I can’t get enough of the Zeitwerk Date! It looks awesome on your wrist! I was able to try one on at the NYC boutique early last year. Do you think it is too big for my wrist? How often do you wear yours? Daily? Casual, suit…all the above? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks! I think it looks great on your wrist too! I usually wear my watches in rotation and the Zeitwerk Date is among my favourites. I think the watch suits casual wear better. For formal occasion, I usually go with the 1815. Here are some photos to show you how the watches wear on my wrist, hopefully they can help you make up your mind :) |

Wow! Those are fantastic! So jealous! I would have to give up a few watches to collect the Zeitwerk Date or Datograph- both are around the same price at the boutique. The fun is in the chase! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

totally agree w this—seems very underrated. I’d been dreaming of this watch for several years and finally pulled the trigger recently (in wg). |
