TT DJ II 116333? Submariner 116613?
Can anybody here help me please? I am buying my first Rolex. After some researches, I have shortlisted my choices to 3: TT DJ II 116333 slatedial, TT DJ II 116333 champaign dial, and TT Submariner date 116613 black dial. DJ is a popular choice here in the Philippines while the Submariner is ranked 3 in The Watch Quote. I am 49, male, medical doctor by profession and I intend to use it primarily for day to day work.
Thank you Last edited by rpdom60; 2 November 2009 at 02:06 AM.. Reason: qualified Submariner as TT Submariner date |

The extra info of what you do helps, I usually would lean towards the TT sub. But it sounds like you rather get a DJ II which I think are a great looking watch. It all depends on you, would you rather have the DJ II because is popular there or because thats what you like, Why is the Sub mentioned between all the DJ II that you mentioned, sounds like the TT Sub is what's calling your name. Be different there get the TT SUB.. you can't go wrong in what ever you pick after all they are Rolex watches, good luck and make sure to post pictures

I'm a fan of both, my suggestion Doc is get the TT datejust with the champane dial. You won't be disappointed. It's a classic..

If you are not a diver, I suggest that you get a TT GMT IIc or TT GMT II with all black bezel/dial. TT GMT goes well with business suits and very usefull when traveling out of the country to attend conferences.

I prefer Sub...but maybe you want a Datejust to blend in with all the Drs???
What about a white gold sub...why look like everyone else??? |

Thank you guys for your inputs. It appears it's Sub over DJ II. I called up all the AD's here in Manila today to check out on their subs and unfortunately neither the 116613 or 116619 is available. Not this year I was told. That leaves me really with the TT DJ II or if it's the Sub am going to get then I have to wait (excruciatingly!) for next year or go to Hong Kong. Eddie, thanks for recommending the 116619 but I must admit that is way beyond my budget for my first Rolex. If it is TT DJ II then, would anybody object to the slate dial? Or should I go for the classic champagne (pardon the typo in my first post) as Chuck recommended?
Once again, thanks a lot! |

I got my first Rolex about a month ago...TT Sub Black dial. I wear it constantly and really enjoy it. For me, it is the perfect combination of classic and classy. If you can't get it from an AD, you might want to try Furmans (where I got mine) or one of the good TRF sellers (like DAVIDSW). Good luck!

What the ADs here in Manila have are the Sub 16613's and none of the 116613's as yet (116613 - with Cerachrom disc). I checked out Alan Furman & Co., I may be wrong but I didn't see any 116613 in their inventory. I have never had the experience of doing online shopping for big ticket items though but that is an option I will consider. But that TT Sub black dial is tempting really (and the blue dial, too). Now I realize how agonizing it is to choose between two beauties (for me, at least) - DJ II or TT Sub date? But I must say, TRF has been of much help to a newbie like me.

wear a suit every day, so leaning towards the DJ BUT........ |
