Rumour on Rolex Price Increase?
Apologies for another batch of noob questions :)
Does Rolex tend to increase prices every year and if so, what months of the year is most likely? What do you guys think on the likely degree of increase, given the poor state of the world economy? I am noticing increasing stock of pre-owned Rolexes recently; is this a sign of worsening market conditions or something else? Are ADs reporting worsening trade conditions? I imagined Christimas and Valentines days is the worst time to try to get discount at AD. So, what would be the quietest period of the year for them in order to get the maximum discount? |

I'm sure they will put a 3% increase by the end of the year.

I was also told by my AD and other ADs that increase there will be...
Though not sure if by adding price or by lessen the discounts..

My AD told me it is going to be an almost 10% jump. The manager told me it was going into effect very soon. Of course this could have been a ploy to get me to buy something, but she showed me the new book and the previous amount my Bluesy Serti would have appraised at. They also wrote the appraisal at the higher amount (it was for insurance purposes). I think this increase is coming. I don't think she was feeding me lines. JMO.

My AD told me there was going to be a reduction of 25% across the whole range. Now if you believe that dont listen to rumours only facts when they happen.

With the way the economy is going, I think and increase would be minimal.

Hi oceanblue1, welcome to The Rolex Forum. You might not get that many sensible answers to this question as it asked at least once every month and EVRYONE'S AD has told them something different. I don't think there has been a price increase in the UK this year. Last year, there was one in April and another in...errm...I think it was October 1st. I might be wrong. The £ is weak against the Euro at the moment and is predicted to stay low for 18 months or so. This makes the UK quite cheap compared with France, Ireland etc. so Rolex might decide to increase the MRSP in the UK to balance this but as Padi56 said, nobody will know until it happens. I told my AD about the last price increase before Rolex told him - and I found out on here.

I don't know anything specific about price increases but Rolex is one of only 3 luxury watch companies whose sales and profits went up this year (according to an article on the paper at least) so they might feel they can get away with an increase.
Can anyone confirm the financials (say from their quarterly reports)? |

Nobody knows the answer to this other than Rolex leadership team. Each AD tells a different story trying to push the customer to buy a watch immediately, rather than think about it.
An increase will happen when it happens! Given the revenue decrease in sales of luxury watches and the fragile state of the economy globally, I would doubt any increase this holiday season. |

while I was in centeal London last Thursday trying to locate a backup DJII, an AD suggested there maybe a price increase after the new year in the uk. Probably in January or February 2010.
There were 2 increases in the uk in 08 and once in 09. That all the info I have for now. |

In the UK, there is also the question of whether Rolex will adjust their prices at the same point the government re-introduces the 17.5% VAT rate on 1st January. All watches (for all manufacturers) will need to have their street retail price changed at that point. For a SS Daytona, that would push the price up to just over £6300. Since the price lists will need to be re-printed, that would be the ideal time for Rolex to introduce a rise as well.

Don't think so but depends on the objective of Rolex Company - if making $ is it primary objective as a company - regardless of private or public.
Given the economy and slow sales esp on luxury goods, its not a good idea to increase price. They can do that but at the same time tell the ADs to give out more discount so net net is about the same. |
