New forum layout - horrible

Why has the forum general layout been changed it looks boring and not a patch on the old format?

Well somehow my display started to come up in a blue border top and bottom with very little detail about anything. However I just found a small button which said normal view and I'm now back to the normal format, so I don't know what happened to make it behave in this manner...
