You rarely find a Police Officer in a donut shop anymore. They hate the stereotype. Times were before Starbucks that the only place to get decent coffee, especially on the night shift was at Dunkin Donuts so the cops went there. Most did not eat donuts, but only drank coffee.

I was on patrol one night when we were driving down a major avenue that on one side of the street is serviced by one radio frequency and the other side of the street by another. So my partner and I were rolling and we spot two patrol cars from our department sitting in the parking lot at Dunkin Donuts. My partner ( an old timer) snaps and wants to know who the two yahoos are that are at the donut shop! He wants thier hides. Come to find out at the end of the shift that they were on a call of a passed out drunk there.

Another time a buddy of mine was responding to an in progress bank robbery when he rolls into the local dunkin donuts with his overhead lights on and then runs inside! Imagine how this looked. Some citizen called in to complain saying "Some fat cop ( he was) just came in lights and sirens and then ran into the donut shop!" Well he went into the donut shop quickly because it afforded him a perfect vantage point of the bank front door kittycorner that was being held up!
