A question for the Australians

Greetings & Happy New Year everyone,

I have a bit of a naive question for you. In a couple of weeks my family and I are embarking on a trip to Oz for 5 weeks. All just good fun from Cairns to Sydney. My question is this ... will there be any higher risk with me wearing my Daytona vs my Submariner? I have switched to my Daytona being my daily wearer, and I'm convinced that it is every bit as tough as my trusty Sub - but having never been to this part of the world, I don't know if I would be better to leave it locked away on my own continent? I said I was naive :)

All constructive input appreciated.

Cheers,

Dennis

You will be safe in South Australia but watch out for all those deviates in the other States.

You will have no problems as very few would even notice one IMO.

If you get to Adelaide, I'll buy you a beer or three.

Only the first reply counts on this thread, Dennis. The rest of the replies will be the usual

As old McEnroe used to say "you cannot be serious"
This is the safest country in the world, wear them both, quite safe, different story if your going on to New Zealand though (Happy New Year JJ)

Enjoy your stay and if you send me your first hotel address you will be staying at here, I will have a complementary copy of one of our Australian Map Journal's waiting for you at reception.

When I was building a national network of agents a few years ago, I used to travel extensively throughout Australia - all the capital cities and regions plus lots of remote areas including the mining towns of Mt Isa and Kalgoorlie.

Used to do the Melb/Alice Springs/Darwin/Cairns/Townsville/Mackay/Brisbane round trips - by air and by hire car. No problems wearing my Rolex or Omega during those trips.

As with any travel, just be aware of your surroundings wherever you go and you'll be all right.

I've been waiting for years for someone to ask this question.

I really never thought it would be asked, and that it was just wishful thinking on my part.

Anyway, the guys have pretty much set you straight, any stainless steel watch is a stainless steel watch in Australia.

Have a great time Down Under

I don't think your Daytona or sub will raise an eyebrow to most people - they don't know the difference anyway.

Just stay away from places like Redfern in Sydney then you should be fine.

You'll be more concerned about the drunks here. The bringe drinking culture in the big Aussie cities is getting real bad.

BTW, you do have insurance on your watches right?

I think we must have scared him off Steve, gone very quiet.

By the way, that offer is open to any one visiting or living here who is planing on a trip around Aus, just pm me your hotel or home address / po box # etc and we will get one off to you.
