Strap buckle vs deployment question

I've been looking around for a while now, but am unable to find a good resource that explains this. Are Panerai straps built to specifically take either a deployment or buckle? I have always been a fan of deployment setups, but my new 112 has a buckle. If I get a deployment, can I just throw it on existing straps or will I have to purchase specific straps to fit.

Thanks!

I believe that the straps for use with a deployant buckle are slightly thinner that those for use with a tang buckle. When I was looking at PAMs recently I was wanting a deployant, however, the 312 comes with a tang buckle. In hindsight I'm glad that I went with the tang buckle as there seems to be a greater variety of 3rd party straps around for this.

The deployment straps are designed thinner at the buckle, to bend easier with the butterfly clasp. Plus the gap for the pin is thicker to accommodate the butterfly clasp.

Are deployment clasps more comfortable than tang? I've never tried them to be honest.

Stay with the buckle on the Historic.Wears better than the PAM OEM deployant.

I'm starting to dig the tang, I just don't like the idea of my leather straps wearing so much from being taken on and off. Seems like the straps would crack and wear there from being pulled off. How long do OEM straps usually last?
