Hi All,

Well...over the last year i've been looking at different brands and models or watches.

Now i've been looking at some PAMs but dont know too much about them...

I'm looking for something with a date but would settle for something nice like a 000.

I've seen some 000 for about 3.5k. Do other PAM models that have dates range around this kind of price?

How do resale values compare to Rolex? I know watches like Breitling prices fall dramatically. But would models like the 000 since they are so limited maintain it's value or even increase over time?

I have a PAM ZERO. It truly is the entry level into the PAM world whilst giving you much of the fun of being a PAM owner - looks and strap collection - on a small budget. Naturally if you've got the $ to spend them there are some nicer looking ones in the range.

I would just caution you on the following: don't buy a watch with any compromise unless you TRULY like it. For example, if you must have a watch with date, then skip the PAM 0.
PAM resales are best in class - arguably as good as Rolex.

Do some research/homework for yourself. There are many PAM's that have date features and can cost you five figures. It just depends what you are looking for and want. A Panerai will hold its value well.

The 000 is a fine piece and most will tell you it's a must-have for your collection. It is a true "base" (pun intended). Try some on and only purchase if it YELLS at you!!

Welcome to the world of Panerai.

Take you time and look around. There are so many models and so many subtle variations that people just fall in love with.

The one you are considering now (the zero) is a VERY historic looking piece and is Panerai's modern day interpretation on the 5218-201/A pre-v logo. If you buy it used, you'll never lose money. This is almost true of all these luxury watches. People will say that Rolex holds better or Panerai holds better, etc. Truth be told, if you buy used, you'll most likely be ok with many brands (omega, pam, rolex, cartier, iwc, breitling, etc and so on).

The entry models with dates are what is called the "contemporary" line. These are all automatics and more contemporary than Panerai's historic history. I think the same is true with the manufattura line as well (these are their inhouse movements). Check out www.panerai.com and just look at the catalog online. It is a good starting point.

Just take your time and look around. Scoure the fs sections of tz.com p.com and trf.com. You'll get a good idea on prices, conditions, etc. I reallly believe that the hunt for the next watch is 1/2 the fun. Enjoy it.

Don't get too wrapped up in resale concerns, although Panerai generally do better than Breitling. Really depends on the state of the market at time of sale, how you present the piece for sale, and of course a healthy dollop of luck

If you are already worried about moving a piece on, maybe think hard about whether you really need/want it in the first place...
