PVD coating is undertaken by specialist watch modifiers.

As far as I can recall, the Rolex warranty is canned immediately, but the modifiers offer their own warranties in place.

To be honest, I really like the look......and that goes triple on the Milgauss.

Exactly, not a fake at all. Jennifer Anniston wears one just like it. I kinda like it, but only if I had the money to have both, un-altered PLUS this one.

...NICE looking ....BUT....

...if this concoction would be sent into a RSC for service......YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD HAPPEN.

...the RSC would REFUSE to work on the watch unless the owner agreed to a new case, bezel and band. WOW...EXPENSIVE srevice for this one!!!

Absolutely, I know that stores like Bamford & son's have their own service agreement on the watches they sell (PVD'd) so you would not have the option of going to an RSC :-( (something I personally wouldn't risk)

Essentially, a Milgauss with a nothing-special (and certainly not "rare") black coating that covers up the exquisite stainless steel finish, invalidates the warranty, and looks from a distance like a cheap Japanese plastic case.

And exorbitantly overpriced into the bargain.

Like complementing a dish of caviar with a dollop of Spam.

There have been several of these listed on eBay. Same coating has been applied to the submariner. My take was the same as rerubin.

Ok I am going to buy it...Serriously. The question is would you guys consider this a good investment peice. I do see some chips in the finish. Would you guys consider this a value at the price. Or shoud I shop more. I offerd 13k for a Jp DSSD and was turned down a while ago. now I have a DSSD and $10,000 I would trade for a Jp dssd. I have wanted a nice PVD watch for some time.

No watch should be considered a good investment piece.. Especialy one like this IMHO the market on resale will be much smaller. there are to many traditionalist like my self that would never consider such a watch..

Just my .02

I would not 'invest' in this piece.... buy it if you like and plan on wearing it for years to come. I actually like the look of black dial Milgauss with PVD but worry about what it will look like after years of daily use.
