My 1601

On 01/23/09, Saturday I picked up my 1601 from my jeweler. He just serviced it and told me he bench tested my 1601, and it ran for 40+ hours before it quit. I was impressed with Rolex for a well built 1575 movement, and my jeweler for doing a good job of service also. That is not bad for a watch that is 40 years old! The 1575 movement is a work horse and it performs well.

Now, I had bought the new parts for my watch before I saw my jeweler with my 1601. Yes he has authentic Rolex gaskets, crown and main spring however I am anal attentive and I wanted to have my own parts in my 1601.

This jeweler’s family has been working on my family's watches since the
1950’s. When the father retired, he passed the business down to a well qualified son, twenty five years ago. I trust him completely with both of my Rolex watches.

The photograph was a rush job.

Nice 1601 ! I am a big fan of the pie pan dials, and that good old work horse 1570. Would love to see some more pics of it.
