Not an F.P. Journe fan myself. I like them to look at but would not buy one! They are a piece of art though.

I think it would be a very welcome thread here, which is probably where it'll get moved to:

I agree with you....thats a nice looking watch. Most of the very premium watches are way too busy for me...like headache busy...but I like that watch.

That doesn't do a thing for me. Rolex and Panerai have bigger boobs than that watch, IMHO.

One thing, I wish Rolex would crystal out the caseback and make their movements part of the beauty of the watch

Rolex's movement are real solid work horse. But if compared to the finishing like F.P. Journe, Lange or Glashutte, they are world's a part.
I'm very lucky to have handled a few before, they are really fine pieces. |

That finishing....BEAUTIFUL........kind of feels wrong to hide that work of art on the underside!!!!!!!!
I like the clean dial also! |

Those are definately in a different category. The master watchmaker designs are best described as art. Thanks for sharing that with us. It's good to look past the mercedes hand every now and then.

FP Journe is probably one of the most innovative watchmakers around today. I have a piece that carries the same movement and it is exceptionally accurate and consistent. A true chronometre in the tradition of marine chronometres.
Aesthetically, his work is like a Modernist counterpoint to the faux embellishment and crude bombastic symbols of status embodied by certain other 'high-end' brands. |

Those of you who think that Rolex is automatically superior to Journe, please read Lee's review here.
http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=40221 The story of how Lee acquired this watch has put F.P. Journe very high on my "if I ever strike it rich" list. You can read it here. http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=34218 Rolex is a great brand with well made, robust pieces built for the masses. That said, you'll just never get the service or experience from them that Journe showed to a single-piece consumer. This is a watch that will help you relive an experience every time you strap it on. Lee: hope you're not offended by my living vicariously through your horological experiences!!
