Does rolex price matter?

Whenever someone is wearing a more expensive Rolex than mine I feel a little insecure. On the other hand, I feel proud and poised if I know that my Rolex is more expensive and appears to be much better looking IMO....I know this is subjective.

I need some reassurance..... please!

I think it is silly to in any way feel that the cost price of your Rolex in some way reflects on you or is a way of measuring anything. The only thing the cost price indicates is how much you paid for your watch :)

Here's your reassurance, Cupcake, your thinking is impaired. Did you inadvertently impale a sharp instrument in your temporal lobe earlier today?

Cost matters only during the deal. Once you own it, it does not matter one iota. You shouldn't a flying hoot about what others own or not own. This is not the place for you to hang out because if that's the way you think - you might get a bad case of PTSD.

It would be tough living that way. Someone else's watch will always be more expensive, and another guy's car will always be newer.

The happiest man I knew was my Grandpa who wore a beat up Seiko just to tell the time. His happiness could not be measured by what he owned, but the friends he kept.

Cost of material acquisitions is highly regarded by those whose life is full of voids that necessitate a temporary patch that will make them attain a state of contentment. People who live meaningful lives and properly prioritize their endeavors will find that the nominal value of an item does not correlate with the enjoyment that one may derive from it.

Why feel insecure? I usually try to spark a conversation with people who wears Rolex and find a WIS in the wild.
Don't give Rolex wearers a bad rep.

I have two friends that are WIS's & both their watches are FAR more expensive than mine.
But I take great pleasure in 'enjoying' all our watches.

But dude I can understand a little 'envy' if you actually prefer the other guys watch but if you actually feel 'inadequate' simply because his is more expensive then I respectfully think you might need to reconsider your priorities.
Similarly I think any feelings of 'superiority' based on the value of both parties watches is a little worrying too.

I don't want to be hypocritical, but still....

Insecure?? For reason like that!
Well, I'm quite sure, you can handle that feeling...
You must remember, that there are many, many people who don't have even food or clean water... They might feel a little bit "insecure" too.

Anyway, enjoy your magnificent watch and don't worry too much.

If someone has a more costly Rolex then me does it bother me? I can't say I have thought of this idea much. Right here, right now I may think I am glad I did not spend that type of money for that Rolex. It's a principle, how much is too much for a watch? $7,500 is my limit, that is why you may never see a Daytona on my wrist. I don't mind if someone else has one it is just not for me.

Your thinking may be a tad on the shallow side. But, here is another way to look at things that might make you feel a little more "secure". Look around. Out of all the people you interact with on a daily basis, how many, or what percentage, are wearing a Rolex or other high end brand? My guess is that you are in the top five percent.

Now ... isn't that better? (in a soothing, comforting voice)

Last year this fella I know (more money than brains, owns a club in the area, family $) bought a Jacob & Co watch for roughly $20,000. More than I ever paid for a watch in mu collection (so far). When he wanted to sell it - he couldn't even get $10k for it. More expensive does not mean more valuable. Besides - who cares? If you're that insecure, go for a 60mm watch with a spinning diamond bezel -that is sure to get you noticed.

This response didn't make a lot of sense to me nor did your subsequent "Friend Request," but I know I can be ornery at times, and if I dish it out then sometimes I also need to take it. Faith

Well, my friend, I am presently paying off a Blancpain which exceeds the threshold... Slowly but surely, one body organ at a time.... Now, where's that cooler with my right kidney in it?

Perhaps this is too Freudian of an interpretation, but has anyone considered that the op's post may have nothing to do with watches at all?
