What if you........... Deep fry a Rolex?

What would happen? Would it make it? Or break it?

I would think the boiling oil would "cook" the internal elements very quickly.

And I thought I was the crazy one, whew!

The threads started on TRF trump any other forum in regards to sheer amount of stupidity sometimes.

Oh well. Off to start my thread about bowel movements.

Perhaps the OP was deep frying and had a band malfunction.

It's tough to say... I would say that a light, airy beer batter seasoned with salt and maybe some Essence of Emeril would "make it," while panko breading would probably "break it."

perhaps the OP has a fetish where he needs to deep fry things....
it's a ridiculous question in any ones book...but I seem to be responding...so not sure what that makes me...

I don't think the real question is "What if..."? - I think it is "Why"?

I don't care what anyone here says. I am NOT deep frying any of my Rolexes!

And don't think I don't know what you are all up to!

I think the OP should do it......

Then post a copy of the service charges from Rolex to service it. At the very least it will cook the rubber o-rings. Thus compromising the water intergrity. At 500* I would imagine the face and hands would suffer a certain permanent deformation. I haven't a clue what would become of the saphire crystal.

If I had to compare this to something else, I would have to compare it to dropping a car from an aircraft without a parachute.

That being said, a Rolex is designed to survive the elements that man can survive. And in the Sea Dweller even more than man can survive in a diving atmosphere.

Why would you want to insult a thing of such technical and aesthetic beauty by even thinking such a thing as this?

He is probably getting a divorce and wants to deep fry his ex wife with her Rolex still on her wrist.

Ask NASA they did the closest thing to high end watches when looking for a watch that can survive on the moon.

Quote:
1. High temperature
48 hours at a temperature of 160°F (71°C) followed by 30 minutes at 200°F (93°C). This under a pressure of 5.5 psia (0.35 atm) and relative humidity not exceeding 15%.
Not exactly deep frying but only one watch passed all of the tests. That watch shall remain nameless.
