Project X

I am seeing more and more of Project X's cool bespoke Rolies in the wild here in London.

Would love to see some close ups, does anyone have any good shots?

one mans meat is another mans poisen
overpriced
de-values the watch
covers all the quality components up
why not get a sub homage like say an Alpha and do it to that?
just my opinion

forget any back up from Rolex within warranty and any service from Rolex at any time afterwards
but if its what you want to spend your hard earned on then do what makes you happy

get ready for

i'm going to have to agree with this sentiment. i will admit that they do look pretty damned cool (IMO) but i would have real trouble allowing such modifications on a Rolex. i think i'd have to use one of my 'less special' pieces for project x pimpification.

Mate I'm obviously hanging out in the wrong parts of London!

Only last week I commented to my (WIS) Bank Manager that I'd not seen so much as a half-decent watch "in the wild" for months.

Well it's mostly north of the river I've been spotting them! They look pretty sweet, however, I'm not sure I would feel comfortable having my perfectly fine looking Rolex pimped..

"North of the river....?????"

They'll all be ebay-specials then.

Sorry not my cup of tea as they come from the Rolex factory is good enough for me.And yes they say Rolex on the dial but IMHO they are now bastardised almost frankenwatches.

Agree with Brett/Shaggy

If i was going to do anything like this it would be with a homage watch(Invicta),NEVER with a Rolex.

I really like the PVD'ed Rolies I have seen, but I agree the pricing is a bit out there. Must admit I am not that keen on the modded dials though.

Would be great if Rolex offered the service them selves on the SS sports line. I think it would be great to hand it in to an RSC and get a PVD'ed Rolie back with offical documentation.

Ok, I got my flamesuit on: I am presently figuring out a way to buy another inexpensive pre-owned DeepSea for myself and have it a bit 'customized'. That would entail shaving off the crown-guards and brushing the sides of the case. Of course, I will have the original still, but I really, really want to get that done. As a side-project, of course. Does not take away from me loving the original design, so again, don't burn me at the stake.

I can see having a spare case, bezel, and bracelet modified, but not the original parts. If you were to purchase an empty case, and put a good movement inside, I could see that. As long as the original parts are there to reverse the modification..... cool.

Taking a perfectly fine Rollie, and tricking it out beyond reversal is a bad idea to me. Although it looks cool, I'd stay away from any "Tattoo work" on my watch.

I hear ya, and the logical side of me agrees.... Maybe down the line if I find a fairly 'distressed' DSSD, I would still like to get that done. I know it isn't right, but I must have my toys, you know!

Don't mind the look myself but until Rolex offers it as an option and it's not aftermarket, I would not even consider it.

They are definitely growing on me. Some of their designs are really cool! But like everyone said, not for the price.
