what should my next watch be?
I've been going back and forth on what my next watch should be. My problem is; I really want a Submariner no-date, but it will take a while to save for it. My idea is to get another watch that I want, although not as bad, in the meant time and then either sell it when the time comes to buy a Sub, or keep it. So how would you handle it? Stay on the straight and narrow or get side tracked?
Here are the other watches I like; Breitling Superocean Heritage Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Seiko Monster |

I'll get a black faced monster since a Breitling and a PO doesn't do anything for me.

Maybe my story will help you. I had wanted a Sub for countless years but decided to purchase the Omega Planet Ocean 42mm instead. I figured it would be less costly and would satisfy me. Nope...I wore it for a year, nice timepiece to be certain but it isn't the Sub. I ended up trading it in, adding some cash and purchasing a 16610LV. The 16610LV has the green bezel insert, the maxi (larger hands and indices) dial. I also purchased a black bezel insert allowing me to have the best of both worlds, a green look when I want and a more traditional black look when I want. In either case I would have saved money and time by simply getting what I wanted in the first place. Be patient, you will not be disappointed.

Buy a pre-owned Seiko. For less than a couple of hundred $$$, you have a watch to wear while saving for a Sub.
Once you buy the Sub, keep the Seiko as a beater. The Seiko is a lot of watch for the money. |

Get the Seiko Monster now and the 14060 as soon as you can.
Best value $175 and $3500 you can spend IMO.

I own a Planet Ocean, and it's a very accurate, handsome and solid piece. When you handle it (e.g. manually wind it, set it, screw/unscrew the crown), it reminds a lot more of a Rolex than a Breitling or Tag Heuer. Highly recommended.

I think you should get a Seiko to tide you over then keep saving, then when you are close, re-sell the seiko, or just keep it if you like it. I am buying a Monster here soon. IT's actually just because of this forum I am buying it, because otherwise I would have never known it existed!! |

I voted PO, but given your particular scenario I'd stay on the straight and narrow. What you're thinking of doing doesn't make any sense to me.

What do you expect the majority of answers to be on a Rolex forum , really .
You should have asked . do I buy a 16610 or wait for the new one to come out . |

Keep on at the Sub - if you're saving for something then save for it, don't start spending money that should be saved towards the goal on second best.

The point would be to kind of fill the void with a less expensive but still quality watch until I can afford the sub, I have been going watch crazy.

From those choices the Sub wins, but why the Breitling Heritage? I like many other models better than that one. Cosmonaute, Skyland avenger, Superocean Chrono, Twin Sixty, and the Montbrilliant are nicer to me.

Wait and save for the Sub!! Dont know how the resale value will be for the other watches. The Breitling is nice, but I don't think you will be happy until you get the Sub...I know that from my own experience.
Good luck! |

From one Texas boy to another, save for the sub., I would recommend the 14060M non COSC, but then I would.

I voted for the Breitling but only because you've already got a black dialed GMT - If you had a different Rolex in there to add more variety to your collection I would have voted for that. Can't go wrong either way my friend.

Thanks, I value your opinion, I can't tell you why I like the Heritage, I guess it reminds me of a sub

You can't go wrong with a Monster and a Sub. I love my Black Monster, it's a tough watch. You can pick up a used Monster for well under $200 and that won't delay your 14060 purchase that much.

You should get the Leopard/Liberace Daytona!
j/k- For the Next one I'd get the Panerai PAM 312 or an ss white dialed Daytona-( makes for a nice change from the black dialed watches...IMHO) Oops- just saw that neither of my picks were in the poll! |

And for the Panerai, It is on my list of watches that I want, But I have to get the sub on my wrist before I consider any other watches in that price range. Great watch though |

I am looking for one too. I love Rolex, however I'd like to have another choice. I was thinking about a Pam 177/111/104. |
