Rolex M-series Explorer II
I was just curious how much Explorer II M-series with 3186 movement are selling for these days. I looked in the for sale section and couldn't find any recently. How much would people pay for one of these??

They haven't seen the price spike that the GMT-II w/3186 has seen. You can do a search in the sales forum here and see a range of asking prices from $3500 to $4500, depending on whether it's been worn and whether it's a private seller or dealer.

For some reason unknown to me, the Explorer's do not have the same resale value that the GMT's and Sub's do, they usually sell for slightly less, all things being equal.

I saw one in the for sale section a little while back for around $4400,it was new I beleive. And for a watch that is almost the same retail as a sub date...it seems it can be bought for ALOT less than the sub, which is why im buying one....oh and I think its great looking!

Where I live (Europe) I rarely see an Explorer, but they seem to grow in popularity. Perhaps this is the reason why they are having a lower value, and in my opinion this makes them the best buy if you are interested in the professional line. I got both my Explorer IIs BNIB well below list price, since I knew all this. Best, A |

Subs and GMT's are very popular watches and will always sell for more than the Exp II............... for about 10-20 years..
Then the Exp II starts to kick butt and climbs to several times the value of either of those two overproduced models........
