Spot welds

Does anyone know when Rolex started the spot welds like we see on the clasps of new well almost everything Rolex makes. My guess is around 2006/2007. When the new solid clasps came out on watches like the air-king, datejust, GMT 2c etc....

I heard that the day-date had this type of spot weld for many years on its clasp before all the new Rolex watches started coming out with it?

2002-03?

I had a Turn-O-Graph in 2003 (F Series) that had the new clasp that had the spot welded clasp. The Daytona clasp was updated somewhere in the same window but I don't know precisely when.

ROLEX has been spot weldng components since the 60s if I am not mistaken. Those early 18k DAY-DATE and DateJust SELs were being spot welded. Let me find a picture of what I am talkin about...

Oh yeah, here, you can see an 18k SEL (early DD), and if you look at the "rider tabs" here that contact the underside of the mid-case, those are "spotted." Spots were used for the "hidden clasps" for DD & DJs too in the 70s...

My DJ from 1978 is spot welded, or maybe have the welding machine spot on it.:rofl :

What is best a custom Rolex or a Rolex that is stuck in custom?

Buy a professional camera and you´re a professional
photographer, buy a flute and you own a flute.

Thank you guys. That is what I am talking about. I knew I could count on the form for answers.

I will see if I can come up with a few more questions while I am still on vacation and a bit board.

Cheers
