I was looking at my markers on the Deep Sea and wondering if they are bigger than those on the GMT IIC.

Are they the same size or is the Deep Sea hour markers on the maxi dial bigger?

I love my Deep Sea and the GMT IIC has been calling me for a few weeks.

I just want it and my Sea Dweller (F series) is in service now with RSC. Once I get it back I think I am going to sell it here and get the GMT IIC. Just curious how close the maxi dial is...

They are the same size. The DSSD's got a bigger dial so the markers are more spaced out.

I'd say they're the same. Probably the ring text in the DS might give a skewed view to some?

I actually think the dial on both watches are the same. The ring lock system thingy makes the dial look bigger in circumference but I believe the actual dial is the same size...

I might be wrong though...any experts?

Actually I don't think it has a bigger dial. It has a bigger crystal, but the dial under the rehaut is the same as, or smaller than, the GMT Master II C.

I used to own both. The GMT Master II C is more visible in green lume initally, and the DSSD blue lume lasts longer through the night but not as bright.

The new Submariner Ceramic give you both, the GMT Ceramic watch size, with the maxi-dial and blue lume, without the rehaut.

I think the design differences make it look as if the markers are larger on the GMT:

The ring lock on the SDDS transforms its perspective.
The lack of cyclops on SDDS.
The ceramic is much wider on the SDDS.
The design of the outer bezel is much chunkier on SDDS.
The massive scale of the case and huge lugs on the SDDS.

I think ALL these factors give the impression that the dial markers on SDDS are smaller.

Has anybody noticed that the hour markers on the new ceramic subs seem to be larger than those on any other maxi-dial sports model? They are so large that the glow from them at night makes it harder to see the hands!
