Help! Explorer 1, DJ 16203 or...............
I tried to post this topic yesterday but had no luck so here's a summary of my problem.
I am looking for a new work horse and cannot decide between the following: 2009 Rolex Explorer 1 in mint condition 2000 Rolex DJ 16203 in mint condition two tone Please help! price is not an issue as they are costing me the same, both are very good deals from the used market but I cannot decide which one to go for! I understand it's down to personal choice but any advice would be gratefully received! Thanks in advance guys |

I'm thinking along the same lines, the Explorer is understated class but i'm drawn to the two tone as well.
I know there are pro's and con's of both watches but just can't work it out, feel like its consuming me, goddamn Rolex!!! |

I'll be going sgainst the grain as I know most will plump for the expI, but I just love the TT DJ with a polished bezel, oyster bracelet, and a nice dial. I'd love one, very classy.

Problem is that they are both wildly different watches!
As an everyday Rolex i'm thinking Ex1 would be more veratile? I need a watch that will look equally 'at home' in a client meeting as well as slobbing around in a hoody and joggers. |

I think the Explorer would do! Versatile, classy and understated.

My vote is the Explorer I, Kyle sold me with his great pics a long time ago and it will eventually be apart of my grand collection

Partial to TT DJs and they hold their value well. Perhaps better with clients, depending on your style.....but that Explorer I is still a very nice watch. Do you hear louder singing from one of the two? Its your call! Luck!

Don't want to confuse further but if you want a simple daily work horse i would also seriously consider Sub no-date........maybe an even bigger superstar in the future.

Thanks for the input so far guys! Sub no-date is a definately possible although I have been un-able to find a decent deal on one so far.
My other watches are currently these: Breitling Emergency Mission with Chrono black dial Breitling Colt GMT Auto on fighter bracelet 5ct Diamond Benny & Co (controversial I know) Many others have been and gone and I have all the above up for sale at the moment. I just need a Rolex to get me through and keep my watch addiction at bay. Are the TT DJ very popular? I never see them worn anymore really which is something that attracts me to it. The one I have found is a 2000 model and i'd be looking at keeping it for a long time, same as explorer and it helps me sleep at night it I know it's appreciating rather than becoming less popular. |

Is having a date essential for you? If yes, then the DJ is the obvious choice.
On the other hand, the Exp has a richer history and looks more sporty. Tough choice - good luck deciding! |

I really don't need a date function to be honest, it's more an issue of two tone or not two tone, that is the question :-(

You can't wear the 16023 with jogging bottoms and hoody!
I've got the 16023, and it was my 'dressier' watch (until I bough a Top Time) when I went somewhere nice for dinner. You don't see many 16023's, in fact I don't think I have ever seen another one worn. Anyhow - if I were you I would definately go for the Explorer. Unless you can find a 14060 which would suit your requirements perfectly. My first post, I hope it was valuable! |

If you don't need the date, go with the Exp I. No ifs and or buts.

This is proving to be the hardest decision of my life!
I am a 'flipper' but this decision is troubling me as I need a Rolex to keep for the rest of my life and not ruthlessly 'flip' for a profit. Just spoke to a broker who advised me the Explorer has a high re-sell value than the TT DJ TT DJ retail £5k+ Explorer 1 retails £3k+ How can this be? |

Sorry to bump this post guys but could someone give me some insight into why a £5k+ TT DJ has a lower re-sale value that the Explorer 1 at £3k+ retail?
I'm baffled |

Explorer 1, simple, reliable and rugged. TT is a bit flashy for a "workhorse" IMHO.
